Leo the lion can't sleep. He tossed and turned for what seemed like ages but can't seem to
fall asleep.
2

Leo didn't know what to do so he called his friend Theodore the tiger. Theodore didn't know how to help Leo fall asleep, so Leo decided something very important.
3

Since I can't sleep, I just won't. How important is sleep anyway?
4

Theodore assured Leo that sleep is very important but Theodore couldn't convince Leo. Then Theodore had an idea...
5

I know a bear who lives in the forest inside a tree house who is a sleep expert. He will know all about sleep and why it is important.
6
Leo and Theodore decided to go into the forest to find the expert who could explain why we sleep.

7

The path to the forest was a long one.
8

The trip took them to many different places.
9

And along the way Leo's body became very fatigued, but he still could not sleep.
10

By the time they got to the forest both Leo and Theodore were very tired. The tree which held the tree house at the top was humongous and Leo and Theodore had to climb a ladder in order to reach the top.
11

Don't look down.
12

Leo and Theodore finally arrived in the treehouse where they found Bruce the bear, the sleep expert.
13

Bruce welcomed them in and told them to make themselves comfortable on one of his many beds and couches. Leo got comfortable and began asking questions.
14

I don't see what the big deal is about sleep. Why do we even do it?
15

That's a great question. Let me tell you what I know.
16

There are two theories about why we sleep: the repair theory and the adaptive theory.

17

The repair theory says that we sleep so that our brain and body can heal after a long day of use. It's very refreshing.

18

The adaptive theory says that people first started sleeping so that they didn't use up energy when they didn't have to. It was also so they could stay away from the bad stuff that comes out at night.
