I was in the new Chevy truck going down the dirt road at 60 miles an hour with my Mom, Dad, brother and sister. I was sitting on the warm leather seat, cramped against my brother and the front seat. The truck was so boring and there was an old 60’s song on the radio. I couldn’t wait to get out of the truck and start my adventure at Duck Mountain. I leaned my head on the window and peeked out as the warm sun was shining in my face. As I looked out of the window, I saw trees for miles and miles, it seemed like there was no end. The trees looked like they were whispering to each other and telling secrets. I knew that we were almost there and I could start my adventure.

This will be my last adventure until next year when I go to school. As I think about this, I fall asleep with the sun’s heat still shining in my face. Soon we pull up to the cabin and we all jump out of the truck. I hear one door slam after another. I look over at the crisp, old, brown welcoming cabin and I say under my breath, "My adventure has finally started."

My family and I quickly unpacked everything and brought it into the cabin. We had to set our bags outside the cabin door because the squirrels got into the cabin again. An hour passed before we were finally done. As my Dad and my brother started the fire, my mom, sister, and I set up the lawn chairs. I plopped myself into the orange chair. As I’m sitting in the chair, I stare at the yellow, orange, and blue flames- imagining that I was the flame moving wildly about down by the creek. The pain of the smoke burning my eyes made me snap out of my daze.

I got up to go get into my pj’s and I walked into the cabin and grabbed my orange duffel bag off the top part of the bunk-bed. I took out my Olaf pj’s and slipped them on. I zip up my bag and throw it back onto my part of the bunk-bed. I walked out of the cabin and plopped myself back down onto the ground. I looked up at the thousands of bright stars. My mom said, "It’s time to go to bed," so I walked into the cabin and climbed up the ladder. I threw down my bag onto the floor and I whispered to myself, "the best adventures only happen when you’re in nature."

I woke up the next morning with the sun shining into my face and the smell of smoke going up my nose. I hear the laughter of my mom out by the fire. I hop down out of my bed and I stepped onto my flip flops and walked out the door. The sun shines into my eyes and I lift up my right hand to block the light. My mom asks me if I want a plate, I say, “mmmhm”. I plop myself down into the chair and my Mom hands me a plate with pancakes and sausage. I quickly eat my breakfast and when I am finished, I throw my plate and fork into the fire. I watch the flames engulf the Styrofoam plate and the plastic fork.

I ask my Mom if my brother, sister, and I could go to the creek. My brother and sister are already changed so they will meet me there. I run into the cabin and change. I run out, hug my Mom and say, “thanks”. I start running again until I get tired, I stop for a few seconds and start running again. When I finally get to the creek, I bent over to pick up some mud and throw it at my brother. I turn around, and right as I bend over to get more mud, I feel the splatter of mud on my back. We spent about an hour throwing thick, brown gooey mud at each other at the creek. My brother, sister and I decide to go back to the cabin and rest.
