"Larry! Time for school!" his mother called.
Ugh, thought Larry, another day of being picked
on by Lucas.

At the table, Larry just stared at his plate
of eggs and bacon, which seemed to be
staring at him mockingly.
"Are you alright?" Larry's mom asked.
"Yes, mom," Larry lied
"All right," she replied, but she still thought
he wasn't telling the truth.

“Larry the Loser, Larry the Loser!” the kids
chanted as Larry got on the bus.
“I’ll just ignore them,” Larry thought as they
started throwing paper balls at him.

"Gather around, children, I have an
announcement to make!" the teacher called
after the bell rang.
All the children gathered excitedly around Ms.
Linda, their teacher.

"As you know, children, today is our class
field trip! Our trip will begin at the Lexington
where you will see all kinds of airplanes and
learn about ships.
Next we will go to the Texas State Aquarium
where you will see different kinds of marine
life.
Then we will go to the park for lunch and
finish with a surprise at the end of the day."

All the kids cheered wildly at the adventures
that lay ahead of them.
Except for Larry who thought this day was
going to last forever.

“All right class, board the bus in an orderly
manner and no shoving, please.”
Larry was the last one to get on the bus, and
the only spot left was by Lucas.
“No! I don’t want HIM sitting by me!” Lucas
exclaimed.
“Now be nice to your classmates,” the
teacher told Lucas.
“Okay,” Lucas grumbled unhappily
But all through the ride, Lucas and a few
other kids kept whispering “Larry the loser,
Larry the loser.”

“This, class, is the USS Lexington. It served
during the World War II.”
The class stared in amazement at the
gigantic ship in front of them.

“These airplanes really are amazing, kids. For
example this is the Blue Angel. It is a really
fast airplane and can do many stunts in the
sky.
Many people lived here on the boat during
the war because they had to be ready to
protect themselves at any time.”

Larry was staring in amazement when, again,
he heard the taunts, “Larry the loser!”
Lucas sneered at him and stuck his tongue out.
“All right kids now we’re going to the Texas
State Aquarium,” the teacher interrupted their
chants.
