Silky pullled on the loose thread of the living room rug. Her paws clinging losely to the cloth. She was a white cat, with dark eyes, and pink paws. Haneul loved her because Silky reminded her of an angel. The rug fought back, but in the end Silky won. The braid unraveled. "Silky stop that," Eomma said. She carried a suitcase in her left hand, and a plastic bag in her right.

"Haneul-ya, we are leaving," Eomma said as she put the kimchi into the plastic bag. It would then be put into a cooler to rest for the whole ride. "Put Silky into her cage, and get your stuff." Hanuel got up from the rug, and patted Silky. "We'll be back soon," she whispered.

Sun made crystal like patterns on the car window. The road ahead was a straight ruler. No changes in the bend; no bumps at all. Hanuel's eyes were glued outside. In the background old school Korean music hummed.

When they reached the familiar dirt road they car stopped. There Grandma stood, her arms wide open, her face smiling. Haneul jumped out of the vehicle, and embraced Grandma.

Grandma looked down at Haneul, and smiled. Her face was happy, but her eyes flickered with something else. Hanuel saw this, "What's wrong Grandma?" Grandma only smiled, "Nothing Haneul-a, I am happy."

Walking up the hill to Grandma's house took almost thirty minutes. Haneul didn't mind, though. She sniffed the air, and the smell of the sea welcomed her nose. She staired down the path. The flowers were not at attention as they usually were. They hunched, and groaned as if their petals were to heavy.

Hanuel frowned at this. Why are they sad, she thought. Once they met grandma's house they were greeted by aunts, and uncles. After the short reunion all the grown ups sat around the table, and talked grown up talk. Hanuel asked to be excused, and went to explore the woods.

Haneul layed in the sandy grass just above the cool water. The grass tickled her cheeks, and her lips tasted salty. The air brushed the tangles of her hair. "Haneul-ah," said Grandma. She had come to look for Haneul.
