Aerospace
The aerospace of the antelope valley came to be after the Great War in August 1914. the area hosts Aerospace because there is a lot of Flat land to test planes. There is a test base with multiple planes, and vehicles. this is used for testing aircraft and building as well.

Blustery
Blustery means that it's very windy. The Antelope Valley is really windy because the mountains don't block the wind. The wind can get up to 50 miles per hour. It looks really dusty when the wind blows. Dust devils are very common to have in the Antelope Valley.

Coyotes
The Antelope Valley is full of coyotes.
They are the size of medium dogs.
They are great swimmers although there is
no need for it. They are nocturnal. It means
they come out at night.

Edwards Air Force Base
The base is where the planes land. It is located in Rosamond. It is part of the Military. It is like a little town. You have to be with someone who lives there or you have to have a reason to come in. It is gated and well protected.

Fair

The Antelope Valley Fair is located in West Avenue H. The fair is in August and lasts for a couple of weeks. Thousands of people go there annually. There, they go on rides, enjoy the food, and hangout with their friends or families. It is definitely a must place to go in the Antelope Valley.

Golf course
Antelope Valley Golf Club is full of green grass and trees. It is an 18 hole golf course and open to the public. it is surrounded by many homes who enjoy the golf course. THe golf course has many early opening restaurants nearby. during the weekends it is very busy.

Heat
The Antelope Valley has an average temperature of 91 degrees Fahrenheit in the Summer and 62 degrees Fahrenheit during the Winter. There are also a lot of wind which causes there to be a lot of fires. Sometimes in the real heat of the summer it can get up to 104 degrees Fahrenheit. Even during the Winter there is not much snow. It is hot because the wind carries the heat to all parts of the Antelope Valley.

Indian Museum
The Indian Museum is located in the East side of Lancaster. It is an eclectic folk art structure. There,
you'll see objects created by the Native Americans. Group tours are only available on Thursdays. Admission fee for adults is $3 while kids under the age of 12 are free.

Drought
The Antelope Valley is a desert which means drought is common around the area. In other words, water is scarce. The desert receives little or no rainfall annually. Shortage of water could affect everybody. Farmers may not have adequate amount of water to plant crops. In addition, a city perhaps might not be able to water a park.

Joshua Trees
Joshua Trees are also referred to as Yucca trees. They are located in Arizona Utah and Nevada. They are only located in the Mojave Desert. They grow 3 inches a year for their first ten years after that they grow one inch a year. Their roots can go 30+ feet. Also some can live to 100+ years. They are very common in the Antelope Valley.

Kites
If you like flying kites, the Antelope Valley is the best place to go to. With the open space available, your kite wouldn't be stuck on trees. Plus the winds are pretty strong to do exhibitions with your kite. The strongest winds are usually during
the winter. However even during Fall or
Spring, there is still enough wind to fly your kite.

Mountains:
The mountains here surround the valley and aren't directly in it.They also don't block the wind very well.They are not the largest mountains ,but they still count.When it does become stormy the mountains seem to collect the storm.The mountains are full up with dry brush.

Never Live here:
The climate is hot and dry and the average temperature is hot and in the winter is very cold. The wind makes everything hot or really cold. It is far away from a lot of towns. It can be a nice place to live ,but for some people the exact opposite.

In the Antelope Valley there are a lot of open spaces. They are full of dead grass, dirt, and joshua trees. Sometimes there are beautiful orange flowers called poppies. Open spaces are great for flying kites; or having a farm. They are often places that are dry and do not look like they get a lot of water.

Poppy Festival
Poppies are herbaceous plants. In other words, they don't have a persistent woody stem. They also grow in various colors such as white, red, pink, and orange. During the Spring time, in April, they Bloom. Music, art and food are available to enjoy the sightseeing of these beautiful flowers. As a matter of fact, poppy is california's state flower.

Lancaster
Lancaster is a city in the Antelope Valley. It was originally part of the Paiute Indians. There was a decade long drought starting in 1898. It took them five years to build the 233 mile long Los Angeles aqueduct.
