Everyday, Bella the Bee wakes up in her comfy hive ready to start the day. She and the other adult bees prepare for a day full of gathering nectar.

Bella and the other bees find their food using their sense of smell. This is why they often end up feeding off of flowers.

Yum!

Bella and her friends don't like to fly far away in order to get their food, so they came up with the idea of flower fidelity. This means they use whatever kind of flowers are around them.

Since Bella is a herbivore, she relies on the flowers and pants. She's also a fluid feeder. She uses long tubes called proboscis to suck the nectar out of flowers.

Bella loves to share! She and her insect friends are continuous eaters. She's constantly bringing food back to her hive.

After a long day, Bella heads back to the hive but this time, she settles in for the night. As she relaxes, her food begins a journey of it's own.

Her food travels through her complete digestive system, located in the thorax and abdomen. The alimentary canal goes down her entire body, allowing food to travel from her mouth to anus.

After passing through the gizzard (grinds food) and the gastric caeca (pouch that holds food until ready to be digested), the food moves down to the stomach.
