I don't know who to dedicate this to. Uh...
Thanks, Mrs. Slate!

It was the beginning of seventh grade at Greenbrier Middle School, Ciara and Sarah were over joyed with excitement. For them seventh grade meant new friends, new teachers, a new start, and the cheer team. This year, for the first time in their lives they could cheer, and they were very excited. As Sarah and Ciara walked through the main doors of the school, they were confronted by their others friends Kim and Jordan.
“Hey girls.” Jordan said with a huge smile on her face, walking down the hallway.
“Hey! Okay, so can you guys actually believe that this year is the start of a new school year, and that we get to cheer for the first time?” asked Ciara clapping her hands in excitement.
“I’m actually quite nervous because what if I don’t make it, what if I get put in the back during the routine, what if Coach Hunter thinks I’m not good enough?” Kim said panicking.
Kim was always the shy one out of the four girls. She didn’t have a lot of confidence in herself either no matter how hard the girls tried to boost it up some, at least for her to feel comfortable about herself.
“Kim you’ll be fine. Believe me when I say this, you’re an amazing cheerleader. You may not think you are, but we do.” Ciara said patting her on the back to relax her.
“I guess.” Kim said looking straight ahead with the girls.

As the end of the day started approaching, the four girls found each other in the hallway and talked away.
“So how were you guys first day of school?” asked Ciara.
“OMG! Okay, so all of my teachers are nice, some of the kids here are weird, especially the 6th graders, Jordan is in most of my classes so I will have someone to talk to.” said Sarah with a huge smile on her face.
The girls laughed in unison as they approached the school gym where they would be practicing for after school cheer. They were nervous, excited, anxious, and overwhelmed with happiness all at the same time. Today, Coach Hunter will be determining the 7th and 8th grade team captain, the girls already tried out during the summer so they didn’t have that to worry about. As the girls entered the gym, they say Coach Hunter and a couple of the girls sitting down listening to Coach.
“Welcome to cheer girls! How are you all?” asked Coach putting her hand out to shake our hands one by one. We all just smiled at her indicating that we were doing alright.

“Now, the person’s name that’s on this piece of paper is a total sweetheart, she shows leadership wherever she goes, she’s a great friend to her friend, and she’s an amazing performer. Her name is… Ciara!”
Everyone clapped and screamed for Ciara as she stood up next to Coach Hunter. Ciara put her huge smile on her face as so did her friends with her.
“Okay Ciara, your duty as the 7th grade cheer team captain is to make sure everyone is doing what they’re suppose to, helping your teammates if they’re having problems with the routine, and most importantly, being a good leader.” Coach Hunter said smiling at her and patting her on the back.
As cheer practice was coming to an end, the girls went back into the locker room to find their lockers to put their personal things in. Kim, Sarah, and Jordan were outside the door waiting on Ciara. As they did, the girls decided to talk for a while.
“Can you guys believe how Ciara got team captain? I’m so proud of her.” said Kim.
“I am to but, it should’ve been me. I mean, look at what a great cheerleader I am compared to Ciara,” said Sarah. “It’s so unfair I would’ve been a great team captain.” said Sarah flipping her blondish brown hair.
“Sarah? Are you jealous of Ciara?” asked Jordan with a curious look on her face.
“What!? Jealous. Of course not. I’m just saying that I’m a better cheerleader than she is and that I would be a better team captain then she will ever be.” said Sarah.
By that time, Ciara had came out of the locker room to begin walking home with her friends.
“Ready to go, chicos?” said Ciara running through the door.
“Hey guys!” said Ciara smiling at the girls. The girls went home to get ready for the next day of school. While Sarah was at home, she couldn’t help but think about how she didn’t get chosen to be captain of the 7th grade cheer team. Although she let it bother her that much, she went to sleep on that note.
The next day, the four girls met up at the door like every morning around the same time. Instead, you could feel the tension between Sarah and Ciara.
“Hi!” said Kim. She was the only one that answered her. Ciara wondered why.
“Hey, Jordan Sarah. What’s wrong?” asked Ciara very concerned.
“Look at little miss perfect all pretty and the stupid cheer captain.” said Jordan making hand gestures.
“Woah! What?” asked Ciara highly confused.
