Bramble had just moved to a new neighborhood named
South Catifra. He liked it, except that the dogs seemed to rule
over it with strict laws.

Bramble wasn't allowed to walk next to a dog on the grass
and the dogs had law enforcers who would chase him if he
didn't obey the laws.

He met some cats, who he became friends with.

They told him about how the dogs came
to rule.
A long time ago, the dogs came here andtold us that they wanted to share with us.
We believed them, and let them take some
of our land.

But then they started to make laws that were unfair to us. Their police would beat us up and
we had to give half of the food that we caught
to to them.

That's not fair! They can't just show up here
and boss you around!
But we can't fight back. They outnumber us, and
they are stronger than us!

So for a while, Bramble went on with his
life, but eventually he got sick of being
bossed around by the dogs.
We have to do something!

We don't have to fight, we can resist peacefully. When we want to walk on the grass, we will.
And when they come out and start to bully us,
we won't fight back, we just keep trying to walk.
So Bramble came up with a plan.

Bramble realized that if the cats didn't fight
back while protesting, the dogs would
slowly realize that the cats did not want
violence, they just wanted to be treated as
equals.

The dogs hurt some of the cats because the cats did
not listen to them, but some of the dogs also started
talking about Bramble and his form of protesting.

Because Bramble's plan had started to work in South Catrifa,
the cats of Catdia asked him for help. Bramble had been born in
Catdia, but he had never really lived there. Even though he was
Catdian, he didn't know anything about the neighborhood.

In Catdia, the cats were treated like
slaves to the dogs.

When Bramble arrived in
Catdia, there were hundreds of
cats there to meet him.

Bramble felt like he didn't know the
cats of Catdia very well, so he
traveled across the country while
teaching cats how to peacefully
resist the rule of the dogs.

Bramble met a lot of new cats, and very got
to know the country. He inspired a lot of cats,
who got together and made speeches and
protests.

But one day, during one of the speeches,
the dogs came...

They chased the cats away and even
hurt some of them very badly.
