The county fair is coming to town tonight! Everyone is excited, especially Kiera Smith. Kiera had never been to the fair, but her sister Laura went last year. Laura began telling Kiera all the fun things she had done.

“There were fun rides like the Ferris Wheel, the bumper cars, and the ladybug ride. I had yummy funnel cake and a huge bag of fluffy cotton candy, as well as games to win prizes!"

Kiera sat in amazement at the fun things her sister did last year, but what she thought was super cool was the prize booth. Laura had brought back a giant stuffed animal dog, the size of her dog Tootsie! She won him after playing multiple games at the fair. Kiera thought to herself she would get a giant stuffed animal dog at the fair too.
Kiera and Laura raced to the car. As they pulled out of the driveway, Kiera exclaimed,
“I’m going to get the biggest stuffed animal dog ever!”

Laura laughed and said,
“Ok Kiera, but a giant stuffed animal dog is 30 tickets. It may be hard to get it, so do not keep your hopes up. You can always get a miniature stuffed dog anyway.”

Kiera did not care, she was going to get that stuffed dog no matter what. Soon, Kiera and Laura reached the fair. They hopped out of the car and right in front of them was an enormous, lively, fair! They both squealed with excitement as they walked through the gates. Kiera’s eyes widened as she watched kids fly through the sky on the rides. She saw kids walking around with large bags of cotton candy just like Laura had described it.

They came up to a funnel cake vender and got a fresh, hot, and delicious plate of funnel cake. Kiera ate it happily while the two sisters walked around, taking in the excitement. After going on some rides and talking to some friends, Kiera spotted the prize booth. She glared in amazement as a stuffed animal dog hung from the booth. This dog was much larger.

“I want it!” Kiera yelled, pointing to the enormous stuffed animal, “I am going to win all the games so I can get that dog!”
“Ok Kiera, but that dog is 50 tickets. You will need to win a lot of tickets to get it.”

50 Tickets
Kiera was not discouraged. She spotted a game with a short line and raced to it. This game was the fishing game. Kiera had to get a plastic fishing rod and fish out three plastic fish from the small pool. 1, 2, 3! She took them out and read their numbers.

“3, 5, and 10!” she shouted, “I will count them later. I need to play more games before I have to go.”

She went to the next booth. This game was the water pistol game. It was much harder than the last one. She had to shoot the water pistol on a target for ten seconds. She aimed and fired.
“Yay! I win, I win! 15 more tickets,” she screamed.

She quickly moved to the next booth. This time, she got three baseballs and had to throw them at the bottles on the far table. Again, she aimed and threw them. The first missed, but that did not stop Kiera. She threw another one and it hit two bottles. She threw her last baseball and it hit 3 more down! She was handed 10 tickets to add to her other tickets.

Then Laura said,
“We have to leave now Kiera. Let’s count your tickets and go to the prize booth.”
