I got an eerie feeling when I heard the door upstairs shut. And right after I heard footsteps. I was home alone… At first I completely freaked out. I was sure that there was a ghost upstairs. After a few minutes, my cat came down the stairs. Once I saw my cat I thought about all the other ways the door could’ve closed. Maybe it was just my cat, or maybe it was just the air coming from my window. But I was still sketchy about going up the stairs to find out.

   But when I took a closer look at my cat, I noticed that it seemed kind of nervous and scared, while its tail was puffy. I could tell that my cat saw what happened. The door closed by itself. I called my sister, Taylor, the only one in my family that also believes in ghosts. I was standing outside of my house because I don’t like ghosts and I didn't want to be in the same house with one.

By the time she got home, the rest of my family had been home for hours and was getting ready for bed. I never said anything because I just thought it was a one time thing and I should ignore it. So, I went to bed and tried to fall asleep. I heard my door open so I sat up. All of a sudden my blanket was pulled off from the bed and onto the ground.

I jumped out of bed and ran into my sister’s room.She came into my room to see what happened. When we got in the room, the door shut behind us and was locked by itself. Taylor and I started screaming and tried to open the door, but it wouldn’t work. Things started flying around us as we saw a dark shadow appear on the walls. It wasn’t a regular shadow though, since you could see the physical appearances. It was ugly. Dark smoke started surrounding us as we tried to escape. We screamed for our parent’s name, even though they weren’t home.

Everything started flying around the room, hitting us too. Soon after everything suddenly stopped. The smoke disappeared, the shadow monster was gone, the flying objects had fallen to the floor, and even the crazy wind had stopped. Everything was back to normal. My parents arrived home and my sister told them everything that had happened but they didn’t believe us.
