Football or soccer is without a doubt the most popular game in the world. It is famous for its competitions that are held every year. One of the most important competition is FIFA World Cup which is taken every four years between national teams and is the world's most popular sporting event, even more, popular than Olympic Games. In football are two main type of competitions. In a league where teams play against each other the same number of games and in the cup where teams are disqualified when they lose, until the last two teams play with each other to win the trophy.

Football is played in more countries than any other game. In Europe, the most important competitions are Champions League and UEFA Europe League. It is played by both genders. At the moment the most successful clubs are FC Barcelona,Real Madrid FC, FC Bayern Munich, Juventus Torino and other grants from different countries.

Rules

Football is played between two teams opposing each other. Each team consists of eleven players.The duration of the game in the international contests is a period of 90 minutes divided into two halves of 45 minutes each. Between each half, there is a break for not more than 15 minutes. One referee assisted by two linesmen conducts the game. The side which scores the most goals wins. If scores are equal, the result is a draw. Players should respect each other and are not allowed to insult or push other players. For that is considered a fault and the player recieves a yellow or a red card.

There are different theories how this game appeared. It is considered that the earliest form of football was discovered in China. After several years in Italy but most of them think that England is the country where football was really born. There football developed and became popular all over the world. Football gave us legends that will always stay in history like maradona, Pele, Zidan, Iohan Cruyff, Di Stefano, Guardiola. For now most popular legends of footbal are Lionel messi, Luis Suarez, Neymar JR, Gianluigi Buffon, Cristiano Ronaldo, Andres Iniesta.
