The Idea.
Written and Illustrated by Phylippa Gray

One day Little Wolf came home rather unhappy, but it wasn’t his heavy bag full of books and it wasn’t his three out of ten for his music test that made him feel this way. It was an English assessment. Now Little Wolf loved English, but today he was worried about this task. He had to write a story about humans! When he told Mummy Wolf about his lack of ideas she told him to stop being so silly, for little wolf was very creative and a good writer. He whined, complained and asked for ideas and Mummy Wolf was getting annoyed.
“Why Little Wolf, maybe a stroll around the forest will help you think of ideas.”
Little Wolf did as she suggested and went for a walk down the path from their little cottage to the forest where hopefully he would get some inspiration to aid him write the story about humans.
The forest around Little Wolf was dark, except for the light that shone down through the trees.
Whilst Little Wolf was walking along he came across a little girl with a red hood, she was holding a basket full of goodies for her grandma. At first Little Wolf thought he could write a story about her but then he remembered there was already a story about a girl in a red hood so he carried on through the forest. It was early afternoon, the sun was still shining brightly through the mist.
The next idea came to him when he stumbled upon the house of the three wolves. Maybe a young boy with short red locks could sneak in and steal their pancakes...
Thought Little Wolf, but then he remembered the story of Goldilocks and how she stole porridge from the three bears.
Little Wolf was starting to get tired, his ears drooped down. He wanted to go home and sleep in his warm bed with his fluffy blanket, but Little Wolf decided he would continue until he came up with a good idea for his English project.
Little Wolf soon came across three small houses. One was made of straw, one was made of sticks and the third was made of bricks. Suddenly an idea came to him. Maybe I should do a story about three little humans who went out into the wild and made a house each, but then a big bad bear comes and knocked their houses down, but the bear fails to destroy the third humans house. Sadly this would not do as Little Wolf remembered the story of the three little pigs.

Little Wolf is having a pretty tough time on his English assessment. He must find the perfect idea, a story that will blow the whole forest away, but Little Wolf is not finding it easy. The sun is starting to set and he is determined to find the idea before returning home to the small cottage, where Mummy Wolf awaits him. Will he be able to get the most amazing story idea the school has ever seen? Will he get a good mark for his assignment? Or will he fail..?
