I dedicate this book to all my friends and family.

One lovely day, when the sun was shining, and the birds were chirping, there lived a wolf family. The family lived in a cave in Black hills where Mount Rushmore is today. Riot, was a wolf cub who had grey silky fur and caused a lot of riot. He was playing zar. Zar is like soccer except, instead of a goal, there are sticks in the ground, and instead of a soccer ball, there was a huge walnut. Riot passed the walnut to Teona, who was a jaguar, and Teona passed the walnut back to Riot, who scored. After the game was over, and Riot’s team won, Ana and Joe who are Riot’s parents came over and said with delight, “Great game!” And they both hugged him.

Joe loved the an adventure! And Ana never thinks of people on their bad side. They went back to their cave, and Riot thought that the plains they lived next to looked very empty, and the caves around theirs looked abandoned. That night Riot heard a rumble and a few rocks from the ceiling fell. So Riot jumped out from under his leaf blanket and ran to his parents room, and said, “I heard a rumble, I’m scared.” Ana and Joe knew this was very bad because Riot was never scared. Joe and Ana looked at each other with frightened faces, both of them new what to do. So Joe put Riot on his back and ran outside with Ana at their side. Joe looked up and saw humans, and right above their cave they were making what looked like George Washington. The family, therefore, ran away to find a new home.

The next morning, Riot woke with a startle, thinking that he had a bad dream, but a few minutes later he realized it was real. He looked up at the trees towering over him. He was lying under a very large tree root with his mom and dad. After they woke up Joe said, “We need to find a new home, we need to leave with enough food for the day.” But after he added that he wanted to bring food with them he regretted it afterwards and took it back, “Never mind that, what I meant to say was we need to leave in a few minutes and we will get food as we go.”

I'm starving
A few minutes later they started their long journey to find a new home. When they started walking Riot was on his father’s back, but after ten minutes Joe got tired of carrying Riot. Joe placed Riot back on the ground. Riot felt suddenly glad to be on solid ground, but he didn’t want to walk. He pleaded and pleaded to be carried, but his father kept refusing. Joe can be fun and laughing, but he can be serious at desperate times. There was only one other time Joe was this sirius. Riot remembered this, those days were the worst days of his life, they could not find any food, however, right when they were going to give up because they were so exhausted, Riot found a melon. It was a huge one, and when they were done eating it they were all stuffed. They never ran out of food again. Although this time was different.

After hours of walking they came across a river. It was the fastest flowing river Joe and Ana have ever seen combined. Joe put his paw in the river and almost fell in because of it’s powerful force. Joe said something but Riot and Ana both barely heard him because of the flowing river, he yelled, “We need to push down a tree to make a bridge.” The next thing they do is start pushing a very thick tree as wide as a door. The tree was a dead tree so it was easy for them to push it down. After ten minutes of pushing the giant tree it fell over. It fell right over the river related to what Joe said.

Joe went first, he went slowly and made it across. Next, Ana went she ran across and made it too. Riot went, his heart was beating in his chest like a miniature person was kicking a ball and his skin was like rubber and came back to him and he kicked it again. He wanted to do what his mom did because he wanted it to go quickly, but he knew it was dangerous, especially with a river underneath it. He also wanted to go slowly so he didn’t fall. He took the risky way and ran across it, but one of his paws slipped. He was still on but barely. He whimpered and was not moving a muscle. His dad went to fetch a stick and he came back ten seconds later with a very strong and sturdy stick in his mouth. He put the stick on the log and he told Riot to walk onto the stick.

Riot was shocked he had never heard his father speak so calmly for such an active wolf. Riot obeyed him and walked onto the stick and his dad with the stick still in his mouth backed up and while he was backing up the stick with Riot in it was coming closer the the bank of the river and Riot was back with his family.

They walked again but once again something stood in their way. They came across a freeway. Riot was scared and his heart felt as if it was going to came out of his chest, through his silky fur and onto the ground but it didn’t. Joe told Riot and Ana to run when he said run. Riot didn’t want that time to come and from the scared face on his mother he knew she felt the same. The sun was starting to set and over time less cars drove by.
