There once was a eggplant named Oscar. While all
the other fruits and vegetables lived inside the
refrigerator, Oscar lived by himself in a bowl on the
kitchen counter.
He could often hear them singing fun songs like
"Wheels on the Bus" and "Row Row Row your
Boat" (in the round, no less).
He wished he could join in with them, but there were
two problems. First, he was stuck on this bowl in the
kitchen. Second, he couldn't sing!

One morning, he woke up to find someone else on
the kitchen table. It was a banana.
"Hello, Banana," said Oscar. "What's your name?"
But the banana didn't answer. It just looked at him.
Maybe he didn't hear me, thought Oscar. "HELLO
BANANA, WHAT IS YOUR NAME?"
Still, the banana did not respond. This is irritating,
thought Oscar. Finally someone to talk to, but he
doesn't talk!

All day Oscar tried to make the banana talk.
But she just didn't talk!
Finally Oscar tried introducing himself. "Hi,
I'm Oscar. Who are you? Please answer me. I
always wanted a friend to play and talk with."
It was still no use. Oscar thought he
would never have a friend again until
Shortcake came.
All day Oscar tried to make banana talk. But she didn't
even twitch her mouth.
Finally he lost his temper and shouted at banana, "WHY
WON'T YOU TALK TO ME?!?"
Banana said, "I'm very shy. My name is Jessica. It's a
very weired name for a banana. And your name must
be Oscar. You told me before right?" Oscar started
crying for joy. He had thought that banana would never
talk. For a few days they had so much fun together.
Jessica had never felt so attached before. She was now
thinking of him as a boyfriend secretly. And Oscar was
thinking her as a girl friend secretly too.
Until Shortcake came.....

It was a sunny day. Oscar and Jessica were
laughing and Jessica was teaching him how to
sing when suddenly from a plastic bag out
came a strawberry. For one thing, the
strawberry was talkative. As soon as she got
here, she started talking and introducing
herself. Her name was Shortcake. For another
thing, she was prettier than Jessica. One day
while Oscar thought Jessica was sleeping, he
told Shortcake what he thought about her
beauty. That got Jessica mad.

A Few long weeks later......

Jessica finally thought of a plan to get
rid of Shortcake. She was going to tell a
lie.
Meanwhile...........
