Integrating Technology into
Kindergarten P.E. and Health.

Once upon a time there were two
people named Anyssa and Amari. They
were best friends. They loved talking,
kindergarten, technology, and touring
fun places. Together they learn how to
integrated technology into the
kindergarten P.E. and health
curriculum.

Hello, I am Amari.
Hello,I am Anyssa.

Amari and Anyssa were best friends. They both taughtkindergarten and loved technology. Together they spent many
hours talking about how to combine both of their passions.

Hey Anyssa, let's go someplace warm to talk about using technology. I am getting cold out here.
Is that okay with you?

Yes, Amari, Let's go.

Hey Anyssa. Nice timing. We got here at the same time. I have a question for you. Have you ever USED INTERNET FOR
INSTRUCTION when you were teaching your students about
health or PE?

All the timeAmari! I will tell
you all about it on
the next page!

This is how and why I USEINTERNET FOR INSTRUCTION
when I teach my kindergarteners
health and PE.
Problem: The school does not provide
me with enough resources to effectively
teach my students about healthy habits.
Instructional Strategy: Using
interactive websites to teach the
students about healthy habits like
nutrition and taking care of their teeth
such as foodPlay.com and
http://pbskids.org/games/healthyeating.
html.

Relative Advantage:
Students are engaged in the
lesson because of colorful
activities, fun videos, and game-
like features.
Expected Outcome:
Increase in knowledge of healthy
habits. Decrease in behavior
problems during healthy habits
lessons.

Wow! Anyssa , that's great! I am going to have to trythat integration strategy! I bet it really works!

Thanks Amari! It sure does!!The two went on their way to think
about technology integration and met
up the next day.
The two went on their way to thinkabout technology integration and met
up the next day for coffee on a pirate ship.

I know! I love it! Hey Amari,I have a question. Have you ever
used TOOL SOFTWARE to teach
your kindergarten class PE and health. The two went on their way to think
about technology integration and met
up the next day.

This pirate ship is so cool Anyssa!

The two went on their way to thinkabout technology integration and met
up the next day.

Yes Anyssa! I have some great ideas on how to use TOOL SOFTWARE in kindergarten
PE and health! I will show you on the next page!

This is how and why I use TOOL SOFTWARE when I teach my
kindergarteners health and PE.

Problem: I see students in older grades being
bad role models for the kindergarteners by not
having healthy habits.
Instructional Strategy: The kindergarteners will
make a video using a digital camera and iMovie
for Mac or Windows Movie Maker to teach the
other grades about healthy habits. Each student
will say one thing that they do to stay healthy and
why it is important. The teacher will upload the
video into a movie maker. The kindergarteners
will show the video to the school in an all school
assembly to promote school wide healthy habits.

The two went on their way to thinkabout technology integration and met
up the next day.

Relative Advantage:
Students will be motivated to create
this video as they will be using this to
teach the rest of the school about
healthy habits.
Expected Outcome:
An increase in healthy habits and
healthy choices in all grades.

Thanks for that great instructionalstrategy Amari! I can't wait to try that
with my own students. The two went on their way to think
about technology integration and met
up the next day.

You are welcome. Hey Anyssa, let's go see the insideof this pirate ship!

The two best friend went to see the inside of the pirate ship.

up the next day.

Anyssa and Amari had a great day touring the pirate ship. It was time for them to go home. They had so much fun talking
about kindergarten and technology that they decided to meet
at the beach the next day for a picnic to talk some more.

Hi Amari! I brought us a really delicious lunch! I brought us
chicken breast, whole wheat
bread, grapes, and bananas!

Hey Anyssa! What a beautiful day!

The two friends sat down and ate their picnic lunch. They started talking about integrating INSTRUCTIONAL SOFTWARE into their
health and P.E. lessons for their kindergarten students.

So Anyssa have you ever usedINSTRUCTIONAL SOFTWARE
when teaching your kindergarteners
health or P.E.?

Yes Amari. I have a wonderfulinstructional strategy you can try
using INSTRUCTIONAL
SOFTWARE! I will tell you about
it on the next page!

This is how and why I useINSTRUCTIONAL SOFTWARE
when I teach my kindergarteners
health and PE.

Problem: Kindergartener's forget which
foods are healthy and which are not
because they have not been motivated and
engaged when learning about nutrition.
Instructional Strategy: The teacher uses
a game called Mission Nutrition:
http://kidshealth.org/kid/closet/games/gam
e_nutrition.html#cat122 with the class to
answer nutrition questions about various
foods.

Relative Advantage: Students are
engaged and motivated
to learn about nutrition and healthy
eating.
Expected Outcome: Students choose
healthy eating choices during snack and
meal time. Students educate their family
about nutrition.
