Jamania was from Jamaica and is a student in the first grade at Mars Elementary in the Bronx. Everyday she walked to her school with her mom telling her she loves school. But on this day to school told her mom she does not like the school food. And she does not like the Bronx. And how much more fun it was walking to school in Jamaica.

They walked to school in Jamaica and it was fun walking because it was warm.

Living in the Bronx was so different and the weather was different. We had warm weather in Jamaica and it is so cold here in the Bronx.

As my mom continued to walk me to school I let her know that I did not eat some days. And could she make my lunch like she use too when I was younger. Mom told me to at least try the food. She did not want me to be hungry at school.

I had only knew Jamaican food. This was the type of food that I was use to eating. Lots of rice and beans, patties with different vegetables and meat. It was Jamaican food and it was all I new, which was all my parents cooked. They cooked the same way when we moved to the Bronx.

My mom then let me know I was going to have a change in my food at home. She is going to start introducing me to the different American food so that I can start eating the food in school.

When I got home from school that afternoon my mom surprised me with a sandwich. Of course I did not eat because I did not like the lunch we had at school today. I was so hungry and my mom was getting me to eat something other than the Jamaican beef patty I ate every day after school.

I really miss Jamaica and the the warm weather. But as I get adjusted I am beginning to like it here in the Bronx.

I am dressing for the winter weather and preparing for the warm weather.

This is my my home in Jamaica but we live here in the Bronx and it is where I am going to be with my mom and dad.

My mom plans to work with me on the different foods to eat. And I will be still eating Jamaican food and also learning to eat the different foods that we also eat at school.
