Today was a great day because it was the last day of 4th grade! That means that next year I'm going to 5th grade, and then after that I'm going to middle school.

Mom and Dad say we can get a pool this summer. I can't wait to go swimming with all of my friends! I've already told Mom and Dad that it's essential to have a slide with the pool. I mean, what fun is swimming with out a water slide?

The last couple weeks have been pretty typical. Every day my best friend Bella and I have been playing outside. We like to draw on the side walk with chalk and play hop scotch.

We still haven't started planning out the pool. I'm frustrated with Mom because whenever I ask her about it she always says, "Lilly, I'm not feeling well. Can we talk about this later?" She's taking a lot of naps now, and I've noticed that her stomach looks bigger. I mean, if she was pregnant, she would tell me right? I think I'll ask her tomorrow. For now, I guess I'll go play some more with Bella.

So I talked to mom today, and she said that she's pregnant! I asked her why she didn't tell me earlier, and she said that the baby might not make it, and that she didn't want to get my hopes up. The doctors say that the baby looks unhealthy, and if it survives, it might be disabled. I really hope mom doesn't have a miscarriage.

Mom and I think the baby is going to be a girl, but dad is sure it's going to be a boy. I told Bella about it, and she thinks it's going to be a boy. Either way, I just hope I can have a little brother or sister.

Well, it's August now, and my dream of getting a pool is going down the drain. I think mom and dad are saving money for the baby, and if it's disabled, then the baby will be even more expensive. Mom is seven months in, and the doctors are saying that the baby should live. The idea of have a little sibling is becoming more real every day.

Tomorrow we are going shopping for school supplies. I'm going to find things that aren't as popular, so no one at school will have the same thing as me. Jeez, summer always goes by so fast!

I had a very successful first day of school! I love my teacher, and all of my friends are in my class. We also got to choose our seats, and I sit right next to Bella!

Today at home we started planning out names for the baby. We decided that if it's a girl, her name will be Noelle, and if it's a boy, then his name will be Christopher (my choice).

If we wanted to, the hospital could tell us if the baby is going to be a girl or a boy, but we all want it to be a surprise.

Oh gosh. Mom's in labor. We aren't allowed to go in the room, but Dad and I can hear her screaming from out in the hallway. It sounds painful.

We've been here for about two hours, but I don't hear Mom any more. The doctor comes into the hallway and tells us that we're allowed to see the baby. Mom's yelling, "It's a boy!"

As I walk in, I can recognize right away that the baby isn't normal. Usually infants are crying when they come out, but Christopher is silent. As I hold him I realize how tiny he is, at 6.7 pounds.

Wow. I never thought that I would get absolutely no sleep with Christopher at home. He always cries at night, and after we change his diaper and give him food, he's still bawling.

Even though he can be annoying, he's still really cute. He has such a tiny little face and always looks super determined. I love being a big sister!

We've taken him a couple times to the doctor for weekly check-ups, and they believe he has autism. We can't tell for sure until he's about a year old.

It's Christopher's birthday today! That first year has gone by so fast. I can't believe I'm already a 6th grader. Next year I'm going to middle school!

Bella's mom also had a baby, and it's a girl. But Bella's little sister is way different then Christopher. She's a lot more interactive, and she's more observant.

I'm really worried about Christopher. He's so quiet and it seems like he's in his own little world. We're taking him to the doctor next week to see if he has autism.
