For Maggz, the 7th member of the Martin family.

Hi there, I'm Maggie the Border Collie! Also known as Maggz or queen of the backyard. I'd like to tell you a story about sheep. And some blonde people. And some squirrels. And a whole lot of belly rubs. Before I get to all of this, lets start from the beginning.

As you can see, we may have the same black and white fur, but I couldn't be more different. Fun fact, Border Collies are born to be herding dogs. I, on the other hand, was NOT cut out for it.

I grew up on a farm with my parents, Bob and Rosie, and lots of other dogs that looked just like me (I was the cutest though).

Day after day, I herded sheep. What a boring life right? The worst part was, it was like I was the only one who felt this way. To put it simply, I was lonely and very, very discouraged.
Why can't I be like everyone else?
I'm just not good enough.
I hate sheep.

After an exhausting afternoon with the sheep and later wallowing in my sorrows, I overheard my owners talking. Yeah, they always thought I couldn't understand them, but boy were they wrong.
Poor Maggie, we really can't keep her around anymore. She's not as quick or smart as the rest.
There is a family in the city who is interested in buying her. I'll make the call.

One day, instead of sending me out in the field, my owners gave me a bath and a new collar. I knew that meant I'd be leaving soon. Turns out, I was saying goodbye that day. I can remember the sound of the unfamiliar voices as they pulled up.
She's so cute!
I can't wait to bring her home!

Who are these strange little blonde people??

Honestly, all I could think when I saw them was...

What is this????
I knew that my departure was fast approaching and don't get me wrong, I was terrified, but I was preoccupied with the big, purple, metal machine in front of me.

As I lost sight of the farmlands, tall buildings came into view. It is as if they reached the clouds.
Where are they taking me??

Honestly, I was really scared (and very queasy) after that long ride. I just wanted to go back home to the faces that I recognized, even if it meant seeing the sheep again. Stepping out of the metal machine, I knew one thing: I had a home and this was not it.

Welcome to your new home Maggie!

Not to sound like a scaredy cat, but inside this new house, I was terrified of EVERYTHING. Nothing was familiar to me, especially those tall wooden steps. Facing them every day was a terrible task.
I hate these things. They are too tall and I fall every time I go on them.

Even worse than the stairs were the squirrels. Those animals were just plain annoying. They just sat there staring, never moving where I wanted them to. That just reminded me of failure back home and everything I would never be.

I can't even herd sheep, so there is no way I can handle these new animals.

The other dogs of the neighborhood were also huge bullies. They were always making fun of my former life as a farm dog and the way I spoke.
Your voice sounds different, you clearly aren't from here and you definitely don't belong here.
After weeks of the stairs, squirrels, and mean neighbors, I could not handle it anymore. I dreamed of a place where I would feel happy and welcomed. So one day, I went out on my own to search for it.
