Oh is a Boov who believes in the Boov way... but the Boov way is not working for him. He is smart and hard-working, but is just enough of an individual that nobody really likes him. He knows this, and is desperate to belong, but this desperation only makes him try harder and thus stand out even more as an individual, which makes other Boov like him even less. He is funny—or wants to be—but since the Boov don’t really have a sense of humor, his jokes fall flat. Oh doesn’t know it at the beginning of the movie, but eventually comes to understand that he’s really more of a human being stuck inside the body of a Boov. And that is his journey.
OH
Gratuity “Tip” Tucci is a human girl who is living alone ever since her mother (and virtually everyone else on Earth) was rounded up by the Boov. She is tough and smart and seemingly fearless... but is covering her terror that she’ll never see her mom again. Hers is originally an immigrant family. She and her mom worked hard to make a new home for themselves, and finally felt as if they belonged—so Tip is especially resentful of the Boov’s casual imperialism, which has robbed her of everything she and her mother worked for. Her relationship with Oh—himself an immigrant of sorts—will challenge her own prejudices and preconceptions.

Their hobbies include worshipping Captain Smek, believing in their moral and cultural superiority over all other beings, denying responsibility for mistakes, placing objects into appropriate containers, and the music of Philip Glass. They can change colors to indicate different emotional states, but would rather not.
