On September 11, 2001 a tragedy happened in the United States of America. An Islamic group, Al Qaeda, attacked U.S. soil and hundreds of people lost their lives.
There were coordinated attacks that began with two planes hitting the Twin Towers in New York City and a third hitting the Pentagon located just outside of Washington D.C. The fourth plane, Flight 93, crashed in Pennsylvania.
Over 3,000 people, foreign and domestic, lost their lives due to this attack.
We may have lost many lives however, many other lives were saved.
Civilians, firefighters, policeman, and many others gave a helping hand in saving the lives of our people.
However, one man, flying in the sky, saved lives and gave us hope. This man's name is Todd Beamer.

Todd Beamer Timeline:

Todd Beamer was born in Flint, Michigan on Nov. 24, 1968.
Little did Todd know, he would have an important part in making history for our country on September 11, 2001.

Todd was a husband, father and friend who will be remembered for years to come.
He left behind a wife, two sons and a daughter.
Why may you ask?

On September 11, 2001 our country faced a horrible act of terrorism. Todd was among the passengers on Flight 93, one of the airplanes that got hijacked. It was on the flight where his whole life was going to change forever.

On the flight He and the other passengers noticed what the terrorists were planning. They felt a change in the the direction of the flight and realized what their destiny would be.

Scared as anyone else on the flight Todd's bravery and courageousness overcame the fear filled in the plane.
It was in that moment that Todd decided he would not just sit and watch but instead fight back.

Todd Beamer lead the passengers on the plane to try to fight off the terrorists and take over the flight. Cockpit recordings proved this statement. Todd and the passengers wanted to land the plane safely but unfortunately, lost their battle in the air. Their plan crashed in Pennsylvania.
