We'd like to dedicate this book to Aydan Wisely because she did all the work and not Alyah. Yup.
Actually we'd like to dedicate this book to Alyah because she is the one that did all the hard work. The writing above is just a big, big typo.

Hello my name is Sara, and I'm from Sri lanka

Sri Lanka is an island south of India, we're sometimes known as the Pearl of India, or Tear Drop of India

We have a tropical climate with plenty of beautiful beaches, but besides the climate we also have monsoons!

This is Unawatuna which is shaped like a horse shoe

This one is Arugam Bay known for surfing

This is Bentota and Induruwa beach they are both connected. They are the most tourist visited beaches, because of their beauty

We celebrate many holidays here on Sri Lanka

We have a holiday called Deepawali,
also known as the celebration of lights. We decorate our homes, and roads with color and we cover our roads and side walks with candles and lanterns.

Another holiday is Poya. It's a Buddhist holiday where we celebrate the moon, every full moon.
Here is an example of a bunch of Slums all built next to each other.
Social Issues
A social issue in Sri Lanka is poor housing. The houses are rarely clean and are often unable to be resold if bought. Most people do not buy houses anyways because they can not afford a loan and the interest rate is high. If you rent, the fee is more than half of your income and leaves you with very little left over to buy other necessities like food and and water. Often people end up living in Slums. Slums are little shelters built with whatever people can find to put them together. Slums do not have running water or a sewage system and are very unhealthy to be around because of these reasons.

Statues of Buddha

Gurus
Religion
There are a lot of different religions in Sri Lanka, but the main two are Buddhism, which is practiced by nearly 70% of the population(primarily among the Sinhalese), and Hinduism, which 12% of the population practices.Buddhism is a religion and dharma that encompasses a variety of traditions , beliefs, and spiritual practices largely based on teachings attributed to Buddha. They also believe in reincarnation. They have a Guru, which is a spiritual leader, to help guide them towards the traditions and ways of Buddha.
