Hi! I'm Nadine. This is my flat friend. Her name is Basil. She is visiting us from Ireland. She is a warrior, and she's quite good at it.

Basil became flat when a witch cast a spell on her. The spell went wrong, and instead of turning her into a dove, she became flat as a sheet of paper!

Fortunately, the spell wasn't permanent. It will wear off at the end of the summer. So Basil is taking the summer off to let the spell wear off. But, Basil doesn't do things by halves. On her summer off, she wanted to learn about another country!

Basil asked me to show her some cool places around the U.S., so let's go ahead and get going to the first location!

We're going to get to our destination by motorcycle! Basil is very exited. The motorcycle is really fast, and Basil loves the wind in her hair as we drive.

Now we've arrived at our first stop. Me and basil got out on a canoe and watched the sunset from out on the water!

This was a fun stop. Basil and I learned how to canoe, and even though we did get a little wet, Basil and I enjoyed it. Now, off to the next stop!

Next up, we're taking a ride in my car! Basil thinks it smells funny, and it's a little cramped. It's slower than the motorcycle, but the anticipation makes the trip interesting.

Here we are! This time, I've brought Basil to see some famous paintings and watch some artists make pottery. We were each aloud to make a piece of pottery and enter it into a contest.

This stop was very exiting! Basil is going for the first place prize of $500 in cash. Wonder if she'll get it! We learned a lot about clay and the kilns they use to turn it into pottery.

This time we had to use a rocket ship. Everything feels really clean. Basil spent most of the trip staring out the window. Hey, I wonder if I can see my house from here!
