Microbiology
Blah blah blah... Mr. Reeves droned on about microbiology. An entire hour Amelia has been sitting in her desk, listening to his monotonous voice explaining the same concept over and over again to the students who didn’t understand. There’s really no point to this, Amelia thought. For her anyways. She had already taught herself the subject well before class began.

“A do-gooder,” that's what everyone called her, good grades, complete homework, athletic, and focused. They thought her life was boring, but Amelia? No, Amelia knew she was going places.
Everyone her age loved mysteries and fantacy stories. Amelia was not like them however, not at all. Mysteries and fantacies were her pet peeve, she would much rather scientific things. The subjects in which captivated her, could be explained through scientific reasoning.

Microbiology

Amelia sat very quietly and pondered about all of the things her friends enjoyed. Ghosts, demons, dragons, wizards...
"Amelia?"
Compared to the things she enjoyed, Anatomy, genetics, DNA, how the brain functions...

"AMELIA!"

Abruptly, Amelia snapped out of her daze as she realized Emily had been calling her name.
"Sorry, what?" She asked confused.
Emily pestered her,
"What were you off day dreaming about this time? You know what? It doesn't matter, you officially have much better things to worry about."
Sighing, Amelia replied with little interest, "Yeah? and whats that?"
"The seniors told us about an abandoned shack in the forest behind the school. Apparently its supposed to be haunted. We are all going after school and you're coming."
Amelia knew Emily would not stop bugging her if she did not agree.
"Alright fine, but I can tell you right now, its not haunted. There is no such thing as ghosts."

After school, the daunting journey began. Amelia and Emily set out into the forest along with their friends Issac and Scott. They traveled through the forest's deep undergrowth, while Issac nervously babbled.
"The seniors said a small boy and his friend got lost in the forest many years ago. They said the youngsters found this shed and one them knocked at the door. They told us he..he.. just disapered...gone without a trace. His screams though.. They said you could have heard his screams from miles away. The other boy just barley made it back to civilization...and he's been selectively mute ever since."
Amelia laughed,
"Selectively mute eh? Since the moment he got back? I wonder how everyone knows the story then." She winked at Issac, reassuring him. "This place isn't haunted Issac, you have nothing to worry about."
Issac sighed, "I wish I was as smart as you..."
"Don't we all" Scott muttered from behind them however, Amelia sensed a hint of sarcasm in his voice.

As they continued to walk the sky became gradually darker. The trees were casting strange shadows on the ground. The branches looked like a multitude of snakes and the bushes looked like strange creatures ready to attack.
The group was becoming more and more nervous. Even Scott, the mighty confident football player was jumping at small movements in the undergrowth. Amelia knew if she asked him about it however, he would deny it. He had too much pride to admit he was afraid.
