One day, a young maiden came to the castle of
King Arthur, saluted th king, and said, "Sir
Lancelot, I bid you follow me and do not
tarry." She took him riding though the forest
until they came to an abbey, where a dozen
nuns and a young, handsome boy greeted
them. Lancelot knighted the boy, Sir Galahad,
and all of the nuns cried, for they knew that
they would soon have to part with the boy that
they raised. Sir Galahad and Sir Lancelot rode
separately to Camelot, and Lancelot returned
to the Round Table.

Five hundred yearsafter the death of
our lord- Jesus, this
seat will be filled

Upon Lancelot's return, new words appeared
on the Perilous Seat. King Arthur said, "The
seat will surely be filled this very day, since
this is the feast Whitsunday celebrating the
coming of the Holy Ghost five hundred years
ago." The knights covered the letters with a
cloak until the knight spoken of comes to
them. After they had finished eating, a squire
came to tell Arthur of a red marble stone with
a sword in it by the river.

Never shall I be drawn, save by the best knight
in all the world.

All of the knights went down to the river to try
their luck at pulling the sword, but none could.
After all had tried, they returned to their
places around the Round Table.

An old man entered the hall with the
handsome Sir Galahad. All knew that the seat
was for Galahad, for the day was almost over.
After the old man left, many commented on
the resemblance of Lancelot and the new
knight, when Lancelot realized that Galahad
was his son.

After the feast, King Arthur took Galahad to
the sword in the stone by the river, and
Galahad pulled it out easily. King Arthur
celebrated by having a jousting tourney, and
also to see Sir Galahad's skills. Being the best
knight in all the world, Galahad beat every
knight he faced, without a shield!

After the jousting tourney, the knights of the
Round Table had a grand feast. In the middle
of their meal, a loud peal of thunder shook the
castle, and the Holy Grail entered the hall.
The hall became brighter than any summer
day, then the Holy Grail left as soon as it had
come.
