Chapter 1: Intro to all sports covered
Over the course of this semester we have covered different kinds of sports, which include: football, basketball, tennis and soccer.

To cover these different sports we used different methods. Our first big project included a football presentation, which we created on Google Slides. Our second group project was on tennis, and to do this we recorded ourselves and edited the footage which was a bit more complicated to do. Soon after that tennis project was done, we were on to our next: basketball. For this project one of the most important aspects was using Screencasitfy to voice over a Google Slides presentation.
Chapter 2- Football- (Basic Rules )
- 11 players on the field at a time
- Move the ball towards the opposing end zone
- Three timeouts per half for each team
- 4 quarters
- Every quarter is 15 min
- Players can substitute other players
- Team needs to start a play on their side of the ball
- No celebrating anything anymore or you will be fined 25k when you score a touchdown

Dimensions- 120 yards long
53.33 yards wide
Goal lines are marked 10 yards inward from each end line
Football Field
My favorite football team...mine are the San Francisco 49ers
Why? Honestly I don't know, they were the first football game I ever watched 4 years ago and I've been watching them ever since. I'll most likely be lifelong fan, no matter how much they suck (and they really are)

What is offense in American Football?
-team with the ball that try to score
-they are the players who take the ball forward towards the opposing team's endzone

Football Defense
-defense's main goal is to stop the defense from scoring
-preventing them from scoring is done through: tackling, and trying to intercept the ball

Chicago Bears defensive end
Scoring
Touchdown= 6 points (advancing the ball into the opposing team's endzone
Field goal= 3 points (team must kick ball though the goal)
Two point conversion= 2 points (play that is made after scoring a touchdown instead of doing 1 point conversion)
Safety= 2 points (when the ball carrier is forced out of its own endzone)
Extra point= 1 point, it is done after the team scores a touchdown

Chapter 3- Tennis

Basic rules of tennis
-played on a rectangular court
-either by singles (two players) or doubles (four players)
-players stand on opposite sides of the net
-use string racket to hit the ball back and fourth to eachother

Tennis court:

Dimensions- court itself is 78 feet long (23.77 meters long)
Width- 27 feet (8.23 meters) *singles matches*
Width for doubles matches- 36 feet (10.97 meters)
Service line- 21 feet (6.40 meters)
Tennis strokes...
Serve
-most important shot in tennis
-all points begin with a serve
-start at baseline w/ball in non dominant hand, and the racket in the dominant hand
-use continental grip to serve

Forehand
-players strongest shot as it uses the dominant hand
-key *footwork, racket preparation, and balance
-bend the knees, stay turned with the hips and torso coiled before you hit the ball

Backhand
-can be one-handed or two-handed
-one handed, longer reach and is a better idea for getting shots that come towards the body
-two handed gives more stability and control
-try both and see which one is better for you
-footwork is key for this shot

one-handed
two-handed
Overhand
-basically like a serve but this requires no toss of the ball
-the racket and the arm should both be ready to hit the ball

Tennis scoring system
-each match is made of 2 or 3 sets
-in order to win a set, you must win at least 6 games
-scoring begins at zero, in tennis it is known as "love" and after that, the 1st point is 15
after 15 the next point is 30, then 40. But really 40 points= 4 points

Chapter 4- Basketball

History of basketball
The game of basketball was invented in 1891 in Massachusetts by James Naismith who was a Canadian physical education teacher. Basketball was first introduced to colleges, but later on it became a professional game The game first became popular in America but later on in the 20th century it became a world wide popular sport. The NBA was established in 1946.
Basic rules of basketball
-2 teams of 5 players each try to score by shooting the ball through a hoop
-the hoop is 10 feet above the ground
-if the offensive team gets the ball into the mid court line, then they have 10 seconds to get the ball over the mid court line, or else the defensive team gets the ball
-the ball is moved down the court by dribbling or passing
In the NBA the court is 94x90 feet (28.7x15.2)
However in the FIBA (International Basketball Federation) the court is actually smaller, 28 by 15 meters (91.9 by 49.2 ft)
Meanwhile, a high school court is even smaller, its measurements being 84x50 feet (25.6 by 15.2 m)
