Everytime I looked out the window, I would see

the old, abandoned house next to Mrs. Smith's home. One night, I looked out and saw the lights on. I immediatly got out of bed and ran to my parents. ''Father, mother! Someone moved next door!''

''Oh.'' said my mother.

''We can visit them tomorrow, Katey.'' my father said.

They both didn't take their eyes off the movie on the TV.

They weren't intrested.

I hate it when they do that!

I got back in bed and started dreaming about tomorrow.

The next day I was very joyful. I was going to meet my new neighbors!

I started to dress up. I washed my face. I ran down the stairs.

I started to stuff my pancakes as fast as I could.

''Katey!'' moher said. ''You're going to explode!''

I opened the cabinets and got some cinnamon buns. I tucked them in my pocket.

''Hey!'' my sister Emily said.

My father came down the stairs. I ran past him.

''Gees, Katey!''

I closed the door behind me and tried to calm down. Then I saw it. A girl bent over her flowers.

When I looked carefully I discovered that she was the same age as me. She had short, black hair and black eyes which gleamed with curiosity.

I got all my guts up and walked toward her. I peeked over the fence.

''Hello,'' I said. ''My name's Katey.''

The girl jumped. She looked startled.

I tried once more. ''What is your name?''

''I'm Coco.'' she said. She had started to gain self-confidence.

I tried not to laugh. Coco wasn't a name! But I stayed quiet. I didn't want to hurt her.

''Are you new here?'' I asked.

''Yes,'' she said. ''I moved in Thursday.''

''Do you want to come over?'' I asked.

''I 'll ask mum.'' she said and ran in. She came back.

''She says I can go. Where do you live?'' she asked.

''Just across your house.'' I said. ''C'mon''

We got in my home. I saw mother and Emily.

''Where is father?''I asked.

'' He went to the grocery store.'' my mother said. ''Who is your friend?
