Dedicated to my English and History teacher.
Thank you to my peer editor, Gregory. I hope you enjoy this book that I made. The resources I used were all from Google, anything I was curious about the slaves, I would look it up, Google was all I used. For the amazing backgrounds, Google Images at its finest, I picked the backgrounds that looked nice, that's about it. Alright, I'm finished, thank you. :')

It was a bright and heated day in South Africa, the yellow sun was extremely blinding, it was almost like glaring at a Solar Eclipse, this was like the hottest day in the year of 1860, I know July is hot, but today was awfully hot. My name is Brandon, I am a 6'2 man who is black, both of my parents are full blooded African American. Everything seemed peaceful today, until a man came out of

nowhere and started screeching at me, something about a brown ship arriving to our area. At least 200 men came out of the ship, they were carrying huge metal chains of their hands, they started yelling out words that I couldn't understand, it sounded like gibberish. I looked around, I didn't see any of my people around, I suppose they were hiding, but as if right now, something bad was going on here.
I sprinted towards the men, I cried out, "What do you want?!" It seemed like they didn't understand me, I heard someone in the back snickering, I was getting angry, I balled up my fist, I felt like blood was about to gush out of my hands. It wasn't until I heard my people screaming in the background, the men were surrounding my country.
My legs were about to go in a sitting position, but before I could, one of the men started to yell at me, I didn't know what they were saying, so I decided to sit down anyway. Suddenly, I felt 20 sharp jolts on my back, it was like I was struck by lighting, I knew they wanted me to stand back up, with a lot of pain that I am feeling, I managed to stand back up, trying not to groan in pain.
I knew I was outnumbered, there were too many to fight, I fell onto my knees, it was like I had 20 pounds on both of my legs, I was sitting there for a long time, I heard chains rattling around and before I knew it, there was a huge line made out of rope, it was around my people's necks, it made a centipede of people, and before I knew it, I had chains on my arms and legs, and a rope on my neck.
The chains were extremely bulky, I basically had 50 pounds on my limbs, it was terrible, but I couldn't do anything about it, it was difficult to walk, but I had to anyway, the men took us into the huge ship, it smelled like someone who hasn't showered in 2 months, the smell was something I couldn't stand. I wanted to sit down, the chains were too heavy for me, but it was a huge mistake.
After the cruel beating I received, a man had a pen and paper, he pointed at one of my people, I believe he wanted our names, I leaned over to her and whispered, "I think he wants our names." I didn't think anything was wrong, she didn't know what was happening, I felt a metal pan that struck the side of the head, and I was in a deep slumber for quite sometime. (8 weeks.)
I woke up on top of green rusty hay, all I remembered was me getting knocked out and I knew for a fact that I was in a deep slumber, like I was hibernating. One of the men saw me, they made a "Come here" gesture with their right index finger, I had no choice but to come towards him, hopefully nothing would be wrong. I heard a lot of metal outside, maybe they were my people working.
The man lured me outside, I saw my people working on something, it looked like they were planting tobacco, cotton, sugar, they wanted us to do their work for them. Who am I to kid? I'm going to get beat if I don't do it, the men handed the supplies that are used for cropping. It felt horrible, especially with these chains, but I kept working. It felt like 7 hours had passed, I was very hungry
and I was exhausted, luckily, the men gave me food, it was sun yellow corn and a small glass of water. At least I had some food, I went to my bed that has made of hay and went to sleep. I hardly got any sleep, it felt like we only slept for 3 hours, my eyes had 10 pounds each, but I had to keep working, it didn't help that we had someone spying on us. My life was about the same, until now. (2
MONTHS LATER.) Instead of one of the men shaking me and forcing me to wake up, one of my people woke me up, I didn't care that I was exhausted this time, none of the men were around for some reason, something serious must've happened. I looked around the barn that I always hibernated in for only 3 hours, there was a huge poster that showed a man with a big beard and

Brandon was like any other African, until a huge boat arrived at Africa and 200 men came out of the ship with shiny metal chains on their hands. He and his people were taken to the ship. Brandon and his people were constantly getting beaten whenever they didn't do something correctly. See how Brandon dealt with a lot of pain and suffering, both verbally and physically, and how he and his people made an amazing escape out of this. Although they escaped, it wasn't where they planned to be in, was taking this route worth it?
