The Enlightenment period was a movement in the 18th century that revolved around religious, economic issues etc. Voltaire was contributed a lot to the movement with his work in the separation between church and state.
After the French and Indian War the Proclamation was formed. The Proclamation was formed to forbid colonists to settle west of the Appalachian mountains. This act angered colonists and many colonists ignored this act and moved west anyway.
Great Britain began taxing molasses, indigo and coffee. Britain also decided to tax merchants for these goods. Merchants were angry about being taxed without their consent and they continued smuggling the goods into the colonies.
The Great Awakening was a period of religious reform. George Whitefield was one of the minister that preached throughout the colonies restoring hope of religious freedom in the colonies.
The Navigation acts managed trade between England and the colonies. The colonists disliked these acts and ignored them. Because of the Navigation acts colonist began smuggling goods in and out of the country.
The Quartering act said that colonist had to provide housing, supplies and pay for housing for British soldiers. Colonist claimed this act was unfair but all assemblies in colonies were dismissed.
The Townshend act created taxes on glass, lead paints, paper and tea imported into the colonies. This created more colonial rage toward the British crown in the 1760´s. They saw this as an abuse of power, resulting in the passage of agreements to limit imports from Britain.
The Stamp Act of 1765 was an act of the Parliament of Great Britain that created a direct tax of the colonies of British America and required that many printed materials in the colonies be produced on stamped paper made in London, with an embosses revenue stamp. Some of the materials were legal documents, magazines and playing cards.

Paul Revere devised a system of lanterns to warn the minutemen of a British invasion, setting up his ride on April 18, 1775, that etched his name into history. At 10 that night Revere rode to Lexington to warn John Hancock and Samuel Adams of the approaching British. Warning them of the British and turning the tide of the war.
