Chapter 1
I still remember the day when my grandmother gave me an antique key, in a box. This key has been passed down in my family for about 20 generations. And soon it was given to me. I kept it safely with the box, in my room which was right under the attic. That night, I heard a rattling sound , it came from the box which held my key. Irritated I threw the box and the key flew out. It hit the pillar on which my room stands and it started to glow.
My heart was in my throat, I was waiting patiently for the next minute, nothing happened it just continued to glow, and rattle. Frightened, I ran to my grandmother's room leaving the key there. I rushed in without knocking, I had woken her up, half in sleep she listened to the entire incident. She told me that this had happened to her before but never did she see it making a rattling sound. We hurried to the room. The key was missing.
Chapter 2
In place of the key was a crumpled note. Not knowing how to react I stood in one place with my mouth wide open. Quickly, my grandmother grabbed the note, and began to read it out loud. " Sorry, this key has been my need since a long time, Because I have taken it once, it is now my possession." "Need or Greed?" she replied. We both knew that the key would be in danger. We did not have any idea, Who had taken the key? Where was it taken? What was it going to be used for?
So we started looking around the room to see if the thief left any clues behind. Inside the box we found 2 addresses, each at the the two ends of the town, one at the home of my teacher Mrs.Pealing, who I feared from, she was an elderly lady with a face as stern as stone, eyes like a fox, watching all her students. She was our french teacher, the subject I am the weakest at, despite all her efforts I have failed, never to improve. The second one was of grandmother's friend's house. They used to be best friends but a month after they graduated form college they were never to be seen together. We
knew the box wanted us to face ourselves.Determined to get back what belongs to us, the next morning , we stomped of to the addresses that were mentioned.
The time I reached, happened to be the time Mrs.Pealing was correcting my test paper. She was shocked to find me at her door but then, she just smiled. "What brings you here today?" she asked. I had to think of an good excuse, I couldn't possibly tell her about the key. She made a noise in throat. I had to think fast. T-To know how I did in the test, I stammered.
She let me in, and told me about all my million mistakes, then she started to teach me, but this time her face was calm, with gentle eyes.I actually understood what she was saying and learnt a lot. For grandmother, things were going well as well. They go along seeing an old picture of them, and started to talk about their times together. When we reached home we found that there was something else in the box.
Chapter 3
The 2 addresses combined into one. This was in the forest library. It got it's name from the forest around it. We decided to leave the day after tomorrow, and planned to have a picnic,as grandmother new a nice spot next to the river. It was a windy, but sunny day. We set off at 10 pm. While we were having a picnic a small bird fell off it's nest. Trying it's best to get back in but it was just impossible for the little bird. My heart melted, I went up to the little bird and put it back in the nest.
A while later we saw an elephant who had got hurt on one of its foot and was not able to walk. Without thinking too much grandmother rushed to it to see what was wrong. She found out that there was a thorn stuck in its foot. The elephant calmly let her remove it, and then she tied a long, narrow leaf around it. Later, we went to the library, the box that we had at home was now there.
