Once upon a time,

there was a little atom.

He always had a smile.

I don't even know what I look like. I'm so tiny that I can't even see myself with a mirror! All the other atoms know... Why can't I?

But one day he realized.

That made him really sad.

So, the tiny atom mustered all of his courage...

And decided to go on an adventure to find himself!

Hmm... I need to think... I know! I'll just ask some smart people to describe me!

The tiny atom even thought of a way to make sure he would find the answer to his question!

Not so long after beginning his journey, the tiny atom met a really smart guy called Democritus.

He was a 'philosopher'. This meant that he spent most of his time thinking. Making him pretty smart!

Him and the tiny atom had a little chat...

Sure! I'll try and help you out! I can't quite so you because you're so tiny but I'll think of a way to solve this!

Hey there Democritus! I heard you're a really smart guy! Could you help a tiny atom out? Just describe what I look like!

Democritus thought for a really long time and he came up with a few ideas!

The little atom could be really spiky!

Or he could be really smooth and round!

But Democritus couldn't give the little atom a single proper answer.

Maybe other shapes like triangle & squares...

The little atom wasn't happy about that.

So, the little atom continued his journey and then suddenly found a bunch of really really smart guys!

The 1st person was a 'scientist' named John Dalton. This meant that he was an expert on science! This makes him really really smart!

Then, the little atom asked John...

So then John said...

Little atom, you're actually the tiniest little round ball out there! No other ball in existence is tinier than you!

Look John. No offence or anything but, I already knew that I was really tiny. Plus, another guy called Democritus already told me that I MIGHT be round.

After being disappointed by Dalton the little atom turned his attention towards the second person.

This person was called Joseph John Thomson. He was also a scientist and a smart guy like John!

Why hello there little atom! Pardon my rudeness but I overheard your conversation with John and it would seem that it did not go so well. So, I'm offering my help if you wish to take it!

Thomson noticed the little atom and began to speak...

According to J.J. it turns out there was something that was even tinier than our tiny atom!

There are these negatively charged balls called 'electrons' that make up out tiny atom. They're attracted to the positivity of the little atom and will never go away.
