Dedicated to Ronald Reagan

Our story begins on February 6, 1911 when Edward and Nelle Reagan gave birth to their son Ronald Wilson Reagan. Ronald was not an only child. He had an older brother named Neil. When Ronald was a baby his father Edward gave him the nickname "Dutch as a baby", because he looked like a fat little Dutchman.

In 1928 Regan Graduated from Dixon High School. During his high school career, he was involved with sports, performed in school plays, and was even student body president. Regan attended Eureka College in Illinois on an athletic scholarship, where he majored in economics and sociology.
While there he played football, ran track, swam on the swim team; which he was also the captain of, participated in school productions, and also served as student council president. Regan graduated in 1932 with a bachelor’s degree in economics and sociology. After graduation Regan found work as a radio sports announcer in Iowa.

In 1937 after following the Cubs to Spring training camp Regan decided to try acting. In 1937 Ronald ended up signing a 7-year contract to work with them. For the next 30 years he was in more than 50 films. Usually his roles were the wholesome, easygoing good guy.
Over the 30 years of his film career, Regan’s most notable roles were George Gipp in the movie Knute Rockne (1940) & also his role as Drake McHugh in Kings Row (1942).

In 1937 Ronald enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Force. Since Ronald had poor eyesight, it caused him to be classified for limited serves only. So he never left the United States during World War II.
In 1949 Ronald met Nancy Davis while he was working as the president of the Screen Actors Guild. Ronald said it was love at first sight when he saw Nancy. Ronald and Nancy were married on March 4, 1952.
Ronald and Nancy had 2 children. A daughter named Patti Davis who was born on October 21, 1952, and a son named Ronald Reagan Jr who was born on May 20, 1958.
Before becoming President, Ronald Regan was the Governor of California from 1967-1975. His campaign had two main themes: to send the welfare bums back to work, and ending anti-war and anti-establishment of student protests at University of California at Berkeley. During his time as governor Ronald accomplished many things. He froze government hiring, approved tax hikes that helped balanced the budget, and signed the Family Law Act. When it came time for re-election in 1974, Ronald decided not to run again.
In 1980 Ronald ran for President and won. On January 20, 1981 Ronald gave his inaugural speech. Ronald said “government is not the solution to our problems; government is the problem.”
