The theme of the House of the Scorpion is Humans and Clones Fighting. And the humans treat the clones like animals. Like Tom is matts enemy.

In The House of the Scorpion. There are several conflicts that focus on in The House of the Scorpion. There are several conflicts that focus on Matt, and each of those conflicts are all related to the fact that Matt is a clone. That's bad because clones aren't considered real people. They are essentially a subgroup of humans. In Matt's case, his entire reason for existing is to be a spare body parts carrier for El Patron. Chapter 1 - 5

Chapter 1. Matt is made from a cow and he is a scorpion so he is not dumbed down.

Chapters 2.A boy named Matt is upset that his caretaker, Celia, is leaving for work. After all, Matt has to stay alone in the house all day while Celia is gone.

Chapter 3. After Celia leaves for work, Matt waits nearly all day for the kids to show up again.

Finally Steven, Emilia, and María return to stare at Matt. He's stuck inside, but he gets some pictures to hold up to the window.

Chapter 4. Finally, a doctor shows up. [His name is William] He and Rosa take Matt inside again to operate on his foot.

Chapter 5. Matt spends his time examining bugs and burying things in the sawdust and To come and Laughs at Matt so Matt throws some rotten fruit at him and Tom comes back with a slingshot and shoots peas at Matt.

Chapter 6. Then El Patrón gives Matt the gift of a bodyguard, whom he lets Matt pick and Matt decides on a huge man with nice eyes named Tam Lin, who's Scottish.

Chapter 8. Matt sees a Farmer lying on the ground and Tam Lin [Body Guard] get's upset and says that they have to leave him there. The man is dead.

Chapter 9. When Matt is in the music room he is in a small area watching people he goes back in the closet and find a secret passage that leads him all over the house.

Chapter 10. Celia who seems nervous about El Patrón's party and she tells Matt to find her if anything seems weird.
