This boy named Thomas wakes up in a box-liked elevator, not knowing where he was. he had no memory of anything, only his.

The box comes to a stop and opens. Above Thomas stood many other boys, looks to be in their teens. The pull him and start asking him questions. He is too scared to speak.

Later that night after Thomas has calmed down, Newt sits next to him and they start talking.

The next day as Thomas explores the Glade, he meets Gally. Gally begins to bully him. Not a lot of people like Gally. Thomas walks away and finds a part of the woods where he is then attacked by a boy named Ben.

Everyone gathers around the elevator as it brings some new. But this time its sends up a girl. The first one ever. She begins to tell everyone that things ate about to change. Then slips into a coma. There is a ripped piece of paper that reads, "she's the last one ever"

One day when the runners were returning from the Maze, Alby had gotten stung by a Griever. Thomas runs into the Maze to help him. But the doors shut and Thomas, Minho, and Alby were stuck outside of the Glade, in the Maze.

During the night the night the Grievers came out. they knew one was approaching, Minho ran away. Thomas stayed with Alby, he could carry him to run. he had the idea of tying him up on the wall with all the vines.

After hanging there for a few hours, a Griever had showed up. It started climbing the wall after Thomas. He swung from vine to vine on the wall and slid to the floor and ran.

After running around corners left and right, two hand grabbed him. it was Minho. they ran to the Cliff and four Grievers had found them. They ran at the boys. They both jumped to the side and the Grievers fell off the Cliff.

As dawn arose, they headed back to get Alby. When they made it back to the door, Newt and a group of Gladers walked up to them. They helped get Alby off the wall. They gave him Serum, then a few hours later he went through the Changing.

The place where the maps were kept had been burned. but Newt and Minho hid the real ones. Minho, Thomas and others packed more than usual, they didn't know how long they would stay in the Maze. Thomas and Minho reached the end of a section. No exit. So they headed back to the Glade.

Back in the basement with all the maps, Teresa, Newt and a few other Gladers were figuring out codes. Later that night they all went to Homestead and waited quietly so a Griever wouldn't hear them. It had gotten a boy on the floor above them.
