"Mr. Bernard, can I please perform with Louis?"
asked Heather.
"No you need to work with Danny to help him
improve his grade."
Heather was heartbroken that she would not be
able to perform with her best friend and Helen
was angry because she wouldn't get to perform
with Danny.

As soon as the recess bell rang, Louis and Heather ran out
to the tether ball court so they could discuss their plans.
What they didn't know was that Helen was listening
nearby.
"What are we going to do?" asked Heather.
"I think we should perform together no matter what Mr.
Smith says." offered Louis.
"That is a great idea... and we can perform a gymnastics
routine together. It will be great!" exclaimed Heather.

"Guess what I heard. Guess what I heard!" said
Helen excitedly.
"What?" asked Danny.
"I just heard Heather talking to Louis. They said
that they were going o go behind your back and
perform no matter what Mr. Smith says." replied
Helen.
"I can't believe it. I have to find them and put a
stop to this!" exclaimed Danny.

Meanwhile, Owen and Talia (fifth graders) were
busy organizing the talent show and making show
everything was in order.
"Talia, you are my best friend and I want to spend
time with you." said Owen.
"I like to spend time with you too, but I feel like
lately you have been spending too much time with
me. I need my space." replied Talia.

Owen was outraged when he saw Talia
hanging out with Isaac, a third grader, when
she wouldn't hang out with him. He was
worried and needed to think of a plan, fast.

Owen confided in his best friend, Patrick. He
drew a picture on the board explaining what he
meant.
"Patrick, I need you to hypnotize Talia into
thinking Mr. Bernard is her best friend. That way
when I break her out of her hypnotic state she
will be my best friend again and think I am her
hero."

While on his way to hypnotize Talia, Patrick ran into
Danny and Louis.
"Look at the medal. You will be in a trance. While you
are in this trance you will both want to be best friends
with the person who you hate the most." said Patrick
in a charming and mystical voice.
Before they knew it, Louis and Danny, wanted to be
best friends with Helen.

When Danny and Louis met up with Helen and Heather the
real problems began.
"I want to work with you on the talent show and be your
best friend!" exclaimed Louis to Helen.
"But you are working with me!" said Heather.
"Not anymore. I am working with Helen." declared Louis.
"No, I am working with Helen." said Danny.
"Stop making fun of me! Just because I don't have a
partner doesn't mean you can make fun of me. You guys
are being jerks!" said Helen as she stormed off.

In a nearby classroom, Mr. Bernard (a teacher with the
dorkiest glasses ever) had gathered up some of the other
teachers. The main topic of their discussion was the talent
show.
"We should all perform in the talent show so that the
students will think that we are cool!" exclaimed Mr.
Bernard.
"But Bernard, we have other stuff to do and why should we
care what the students think of us?" asked Me Smith.

As the other teachers left because they thought Mr. Bernard was
wasting their time, Mr. Smith stayed.
"What if we do a fencing match?" offered Mr. Smith.
"What is fencing?" asked Mr. Bernard.
"Well, its like a sword fight. I have been taking lessons for the
past two days and I think we could pull it off." said Mr. Smith.
"Sounds awesome. What if we wear knight costumes with the
helmets and everything. We could pretend to fight to the death. I
would win of course because I thought of the knight idea, but you
can still be in it with me." exclaimed Mr. Bernard.
Mr. SMith rolled his eyes, but agreed to this.

Meanwhile on stage, Owen just saw the damage
that Patrick caused to the four friends. He knew
something had to be done.
"Patrick, what have you done! They had nearly
figured everything out and then you went over
and screwed it up."
"I'm sorry boss. I promise I will fix everything
and take care of Talia." said Patrick
apologetically.
"You better, and fast." said Owen.

"You will return to your normal selves. You will
then go on and be best friends with the people
who are truly meant to be your best friends."
said Patrick in a mystical tone.

In their classroom, the four friends made peace
with each other.
"Heather, I am so sorry about everything.and I
want to perform with you." said Louis.
"I want to to work with you too." said Heather.
"Helen, I realize now that you are my best friend
and I know now that it is you I want to perform
with." said Danny kindly.
"I am your best friend too. You are the one who I
have always loved like a brother." said Helen
sweetly.

"Patrick, come here really fast and help me with
my costume." demanded Mr. Bernard.
As Patrick walked over towards Mr. Bernard, and
evil thought entered into his mind.

"What have you done?! You glued my helmet to my
head. Why would you do this. Get it off me right now
young man!" pleaded Mr. Bernard.
Patrick had super glued the inside of the helmet to
Mr. Bernard's head and then snuck off the stage and
toward the next victim of his foolishness.
