This book is dedicated to the African American culture and is in memory of the culture that was before, is growing to be, and will be passed down from generation to generation.

African American History and Culture
The African American culture is one of the biggest cultures in America today. Despite their limited abilities and rights throughout history, African Americans have made huge and lasting contributions to American history and culture. Some of the greatest things that we have gotten from African American culture are jazz music, soul food, dance, art, film, and theater.

Obituary
Obituaries are used for when a person passes away. Numerous influential women have helped pave the way for African American women and men; however, many of them go unrecognized. These individuals fought for the equality, rights, and the end of slavery for the African American culture.
"Believe in yourself, learn, and never stop wanting to build a better world."

Journal Entry
Journal entries are used to express emotions, challenges, and difficulties throughout history. We'll use this journal entry to show how Franklin McCain, a member of the Greensboro Four and participator of restaurant sit-ins during segregation might have felt.
February 1, 1960
Dear Journal,
My friends and I have decided to do the sit-ins at Woolworth's department store. I am terrified but empowered knowing that we are standing up for what is right and what we believe in. I hope this goes well because we need this to push forward in America. I will not be rude, hateful, or disrespectful to any worker I come in contact with today, and neither will any of the other participants, but I will do what needs to be done for the equality of all people. Joe, Ezell and David are here. Wish me luck....
Sincerely,
Franklin

Poetry
African American poetry is traditionally oral and includes the following: rap, blues, spirituals, and gospels. Oral poetry can also be seen in the form of sermons which contain repetition, cadence, and alliteration.
My skin is beautiful,
Though it seems darker.
My hair is beautiful,
Though it seems crazier.
My nose is perfect for my face,
Though it may seem too wide.
My teeth are not too white,
Though they seem like they are.
My skin is beautiful,
My hair is beautiful.
My soul is beautiful.
My culture is beautiful.
I Am Beautiful

Short Story
In the African American culture, short stories are used to recreate traditional literature that we are accustomed to. Some of the stories that the African American culture have made into their own story are: Beauty and the Beast and Cinderella. However, some stories are their own and contain different forms of magic, animals, princesses, and mythical creatures.
