The Worm: A Narrative
Once upon a time there was a worm,
Who was often trying to squirm,
But despite his struggle, despite his strife,
He always ended up with a wiggle.
One day, when escaping a cat,
He happened upon a hat.
"If I don't hide very quick,
I'll surely end up still as a stick!'
And so, little Wormington ,as he was called, wiggled into the hat.

It was dark and damp,
It seemed like a trap,
Inside Wormington's life-saving hat.
"At least I've managed to escape the cat,"
He sighed inside of his life-saving hat.
But then, what's this? Oh, trout...
Wormington could not get out.
He pushed and pulled with all his might,
Wiggled and wormed for what seemed all night,
Until he started to squirm.
"Joy!" He exclaimed as he squirmed his way out,
out of Wormington's life-saving hat.

To Be Normal- Free Verse
Oh, to be normal.
Imagine a day, no conflict, no regret.
Simply fitting in with the rest.
Oh, to be normal.
But what is normal, anyway?
To follow the guidelines that aren't there?
To follow the path that was never here?
What, do tell, makes one normal?
To fit in, that'd be the day.
But why be normal, when you can be you?
What comes of it, do you know?
What treasures await the perfectly bland?
Stay yourself, I say,
Don't let them sway you.
Don't be normal, because you aren't.
There is no normal, nor should there be.
For today, and every day,
You are perfect.

A Cloud- Concrete Poem
A cloud is not just water.
It's an icecream cone. It's a child. It's a wedding ring.
It's a home. It's a graduation cap. It's a story. It's a legend.
It's a painting. It's a blank canvas. It's a dream, just waiting
to happen.

Haikus
Some say it is dumb.
Some think a haiku is strange.
It's nonsense, I say.
Slang- A Limerick
The new, hip slang of today
is something from we rarely sway.
It is often seen
And not taken keen.
That totally sucks, it's not cool, I say.

Home- A Cinquain
Family
Loud, messy
Adoring, caring, smiling
Quite the trouble makers
Home

Emotions- An Acrostic
Everyone's happy, or everyone's
Mad, somehow I'm left
Out.
The way
I feel emotion
Only I know. To have someone to talk to,
Not only would help me, but would
Seal away my burden.

Blackout
(The night is
dark. I am
running.
Shadow creeps
towards me; the
night gets closer.
I run once more.)

Birds- An Extended Metaphor
I extend my arms
to give you hope.
On gentle wings of faith
singing the soft chirp of ambition
I am an angel in disguise
here to lift you higher.

Scuffle- A Rhyming Couplet
Today I got in a scuffle,
And my mom called it a 'fluffle'.
My sister called it a scandal,
and something I couldn't handle.
My brother thought it was wise
to go back in a disguise
And avoid another scuffle,
lest, like a candle, I burn out and snuffle.
