

World War II
World War II was the most widespread and deadliest world war in history. The war included more than thirty countries. World War II started two decades after World War I. It took place from September 1, 1939 to September 2, 1945. World War II began with Hitler's invasion of Poland and ended with the final allied defeat of both Nazi Germany and Japan in 1945.


Allied Powers Axis Powers
World War II
Allied powers included Great Britain, France, the Soviet Union (after its entry in June 1941), the United States (after its entry on December 8, 1941) and China.
Axis Powers included Germany, Japan and Italy.

The Holocaust
The Holocaust was a genocide during WWII against Jews as an ethnic cleansing by Nazi Germany. The Holocaust took place from January 30, 1933 to May 8, 1945. It began when Hitler rose to power to make Germany great again as he believed the Jews were at fault for their WWI defeat. There were over 6 million Jewish casualties and 17 million in total. Jews were held in camps and systematically murdered through gas attacks

Concentration Camps
Concentration camps were camps where Jews were held as imprisonment, where they were eventually exterminated. There were over 40,000 camps all throughout Germany and Poland.

Ravensbruck
Ravensbruck was a specifically designed concentration camp for women. It was located in northern Germany. 132,000 women were held there. 92,000 women starved, died of illness or were executed. When Ravensbruck opened, 100 incarcerated women were "employed". They volunteered in hope of being freed in 6 months.

Women in the Holocaust
Women were abused, killed and captured and not only Jewish women but gypsies, Polish women. They were forced to work until they dropped of exhaustion. This included women with disabilities.

Women were raped and if they were to get pregnant, they had to abort. If they chose to not abort, they gave birth in inhumane conditions. Women often died alongside their babies

Women were used as illegal human experiments. These experiments included medication testing, amputations, different types of transplants and sterilization.
