Moldova is a small country,but it hides many wonders and treasures that other countries don't have.I think that I am a lucky person because I was born there,and throughout the book you will find out why I have such an opinion.

HISTORY

The founding of Moldova began with the arrival of a Vlach (Romanian) voievode (military leader),Dragos,soon followed by his people from Maramures to the region of the Moldova River. Dragos established a polity there as a vassal to the Kingdom of Hungary in the 1350s.The Independence of the Principality of Molavia was gained when Bogdan I,another Vlach voievode from Maramures who had fallen out with the Hungarian king,crossed the Carpathians in the 1359 and took control of Moldavia,wresting the region from Hungary.It remained a principality until 1859,when it united with Wallachia, initiating the development of the modern Romanian state.

GEOGRAPHY

Moldova is located in Eastern Europe,and is bordered on the west and southwest by Romania on the north,south,and east by Ukraine.Most of its territory is situated between the area's of two main rivers,

the Dniester and the Prut.

Capital

Chisinau is the capital and largest city of the Republic of Moldova.The city is Moldova's main industrial and commercial center,and is located in the middle of the country on the river Bic.

Culture

The culture of Moldova is influenced primary by the Romanian origins of its majority population being heavily indebted to classical Romanian culture.The traditional latin traditions of Romanian culture reach back to the 2nd century,the period of Roman and colonization in Dacia.The population of what once was the Principality of Moldavia(1359-1859) had come to identify it self widely as "Moldovan" by the 14th century but continued to maintain close cultural links with other Romanian groups.
