Be Brave Jack!

Jack is twelve years old and lives with his mom, dad, brother, and big sister. Jack is a very smart guy. He knows about hot air balloons and he can tell you lots of things about sea animals.
Jack likes to watch bubbles and swim at the pool too, but since the weather became warm, the bees are back outside. This makes Jack upset because he loses PE time and does not get screen time.
Jack does not go into the yard with the bees because he does not want to get stung. This makes his family and teacher upset too because they know that it is very important for Jack to get his exercise and fresh air. They know that bees will leave Jack alone.
Bees have a very important job in the world. They help flowers to grow and become beautiful. Some bees make honey which we use in things that we eat. Bees do not want to hurt people. They just want to fly around and find more flowers so that they can to their job.
Sometimes bees get excited and fly close to us, but this is not because they want to sting us. They are just looking for a flower and sometimes our bright colored clothes fool them for just a minute. When they get closer to us they say, "Hey, that's not a flower" and they fly away.
Bees do not like for us to swat them. This makes the bees afraid. If they become scared, they might sting. This is why we leave them alone and let them do their work with the flowers. They are glad we are on the earth because we plant lots of flowers for them to work with.
Jack can do a few things when he sees a bee to help him feel better.
1. He can walk away and play in another area.
2. He can stand still and wait for the bee to move.
3. He can calmly walk inside.
4. He can take a deep breath and count to 10 and continue playing.
All of these are ok. Even though Jack gets scared, it really upsets his family and teachers when he yells, makes up words, and cries loudly.
