This book is dedicated to Ms Palik, because she is the best!

A long, long, long time ago, there lived an evil mermaid named Siren. Her heart was as cold as the ice on Olympus during the most freezing winters, and her kindness as hidden as the tiniest shell deep under the sea bottoms. She was known for manipulating young men, and then killing them.
However, there was an exception; Siren truly fell in love with a young, handsome demigod, Jacob, and dreamed of him three hundred and sixty-five days in a year. They've met once, and since then he never left her mind.
"Jacob's gonna be mine! Jacob's gonna be mine!" Siren assured herself repeatedly while examining her appearance in front of a huge silver mirror.
Once again, she glanced at a photograph pinned to the frame. She knew it was the day for her to finally get her love.
"Jacob..." She murmured, smiling. She was just about to put on her newly polished silver necklace, when she heard a bell ring.

Jacob...

"A letter to you, Ma'am!" announced Mr. Seahorse, the local postman, handing Siren a pretty, decorated envelope.
She shrieked and snapped it out of his hands, slamming the door closed after her. Taking out the letter carefully, she spotted a few words she could read; although Siren was the most gorgeous mermaid one has ever seen, she was very evil and shortsighted, and didn't know how to read or write.
"Grista!" Siren hollered. "Come here and read this letter out loud to me! Faster, faster, what am I paying you for?"
Out of nowhere, appeared a portly sea snail, and hurryingly approached the mermaid. She flopped into a couch and with a short "Yes, Miss," began reading.
"Dear Siren! You have been invited to a royal wedding, which is happening this Friday. The party will begin at 11:30 and end at 6:30. Please come and congratulate the newlyweds, Jacob and Athena! For mo-"

iOOOOOOOON
"Jacob... and... Athena?! What?! She... That stupid, ugly Athena isn't going to take away the love of my whole life, my whole life, my whole life!" Siren yelled in frustration. "It can't be! It can't be true!"
"Are you okay, my miss?" Grista asked, surprised, taking out a tissue and handing it to Siren.
"No! Go do your work and get out of here! Can't people just mind their own business after all?!"
She threw herself to the floor and burst into tears. Full of anger, Siren decided to prevent the wedding; in fact, she was planning to destroy Athena. How is it, she wondered, that Athena has all the power? All the power anyone could ever wish for! Her house three times bigger than mine, her parents three times wealthier than mine, and her possibilities three times more endless!
In despair, she took hold of the nearest trap wave, hopped on it, and headed to the royal palace, still crying as she rode.

At that time, Athena was busy preparing all the fancy decorations, re-counting the guest list, designing big dresses with extra-puffy skirts for her maids, and garnishing the palace with magnificent ornaments. Humming a little song under her breath, she opened a window to let the warm summer breeze in. Athena looked down on the beautiful seashore and mountains, pleased that she chose this beautiful island for a home.
Suddenly, a wave splashed on her with a loud whoosh.
"What in the world did just happen?" Athena yelled and looked out the window. "Siren? The wedding's not today, dear! How can I help you?"
"Oh, Athena?" Siren mocked, rolling her eyes. "The wedding's not happening, because you will be dead by tonight!"

Unlike Siren, Athena was just as beautiful as she was smart. She's read millions of books and articles, some of which were about mermaids, and she now knew of the foolish plan Siren has prepared for her. Although the mermaid was the cruelest, no one could outdo Athena, the goddess of intelligence, in fast thinking and impressive knowledge.
