On a cold wintry day in Alaska, with my sister and i wanted to explore what makes the northern have color. Every night i love seeing the northern lights and the color. I just never thought about it until today. So I asked my sister if she wanted to help me. "Sure i have nothing else better to do"Olivia exclaimed. We both begged mom if she could find anyone who knows about the northern lights. "Girls, great news i just found a really good scientist who can answer all your questions.
As we heard mom, Olivia and I were really excited to hear all the answers we were going to get. The Scientist knocked on the door and I ran to get the door. He shook my hand and my sisters. "Im very please to meet you girls, i will answer any questions you have for me"exclaimed Mr. Lubert. My sister and I knew the moment he spoke was going to answer every question we have. We went to the family room and the first question we asked Mr. Lubert was what causes the northern lights?
"Girls I am very glad to answer your question. There is so much to learn on how colors are made and how interesting they are. One of the most interesting facts, i personally think is that when charged particles from the sun strikes to earths atmosphere, atoms are release causing them the auroras to lit up. " stated Mr. Lubert. Mr Lubert asked" What colors are shown when you girls see the northern lights. Olivia said "Mostly green but my sister and i rarely ever see other colors than green."
- "When i saw the auroras, i did see hint of pink, red, violet and white."said Mr Lubert. Olivia and I both wished we could see other different colors than green but we still love seeing the northern lights. I hope one day i can go to Antarctica and see the different colors with Olivia. "Girls what is your favorite color"questioned Mr Lubert. Olivia said "purple" while i said "blue". "Atomic nitrogen causes blue displays, while molecular nitrogen results in purple. Another interesting fact is that color are affected by the altitude.
