On the top of a big mountain there was a village where some people lived. In this village the men were short , the women were slim and the children were noisy.

The head of the village was a rude president called Sebastian, he ruled with wise men that knew History and Law perfectly.

We're the Law

Law number one:

Nobody can leave this village and nobody can come here.

This law was very old so everyone thought they were the only inhabitants on Earth.

Only Sebastian and his wise men knew that it was a lie but....since they feared to lose their power... they preferred to be quiet and isolated.

Life was quiet, monotonous and quite boring as the one of a silkworm.

...but... one sunny summer morning, from the top of a tower, a watchman noticed a basket near the front door.

He quickly ran and called the other watchmen and they all went down to check.

They reached the basket and gently lifted the blanket........they immediately called Sebastian and his wise men.

A little baby was found just in front of the main entrance. It's in a basket. It's similar to our babies but this one is a bit green and has some strange curly hair!

Sebastian seemed surprised, as his wise men were. After a debate, they decided that some experts had to analyse the basket and its content.

Doctors, scientists and professors analysed that strange package for one day and they concluded at last:

"It's a girl, she's in good health! The only difference is the colour of her skin. She's green!"

One of the wise men shouted: " WE MUSTN'T TAKE HER IN OUR VILLAGE. No foreigner can enter and live in our village! I propose she is put back where she was found"

"But it's only a baby " said a wise man "we will educate her according to our laws, we can't leave her to die. We found her alive!"

"That's out of the question" answered another wise man " we have to kill her, she's a danger for all of us. We don't know where she is from, nor her parents, nor how she will look once she has grown up...She's like a mine: you realise you are over it only when you're jumping in the air!"

Everyone was silent for a minute, then started talking, insulting, crying,fighting.

At last Sebastian ordered silence and said:"It will be put to the vote"

A ballot box was prepared for collecting papers with votes, and everyone wrote his own decision,

then waited for the final decision.
