The year is 2025. The United States is now named United States of O’Brien, under rule of dictator Ruth O’Brien. After Trump’s reelection many citizens believed that a female president would give us a fresh start in uniting the nation. In a nutshell, we were all proven wrong.

When the population in our country started growing, we all turned to O’Brien in hope that she would solve the problem. Instead, she made it even worse, and among her many victims is Steven Jones.

All throughout September, all 15 year olds would take a survival test. If you pass the survival test, you get to stay in the United States of O’Brien. If you don't pass the test, you will be sent to an isolated island that is not very populated, Island O’Brien.

Steven had no idea what the survival test would be like. It turned out to be a gigantic maze. There was about 15 kids in Steven’s maze. The instructor told them that they had exactly 2 hours to find the exit to the maze. They were not allowed to help each other unless they would be disqualified and automatically sent to Island O’Brien.
“5,4,3,2,1” and the test began. Steven was confused, lost and frustrated. The maze was filled with clues, but they were all tricks to lead the kids back to the start. Steven was unlike the other kids. He knew that he had to get out of the maze one way or the other, and he was not going to give up.

45 minutes had passed buy and Steven had only gotten to level 5 out of 20 levels. There was a big monitor that showed all of the kids who had made it through the finish line. So far, none of the kids had made it through. Steven knew that back home his mom, dad, and sister were watching him.

There was only 30 minutes left to leave the maze, but Steven knew he would make it. He marked down the places he had already passed and left trails of rocks that led to the start point so that he wouldn't go back again. ‘15 minutes left”, the monitor announced. Steven was filled with pressure, he was on level 16.
