Annabelle,
Kalispera! That means good morning in Greece! I just woke up in the beeaufuil Athens. It is the capital of Greece and filled with so much history. We are planning to go to the Acropolis today which is a temple dedicated to the goddess Athena. Tomorrow we set off on a cruise to the islands. We will visit Santorini and Mykonos which are two of the Cyclades Islands. I wish you were here! I have eaten enough tzatziki for the both of us!

Journal Entry
The Feast of the Annunciation, also known as the Greek Independence Day is celebrated on March 25th. In 1832, the first document was signed that central Greece would be independent. The country goes at a standstill on this day and celebrates with parades. There is a big parade in Athens, but many other towns and villages have parades as well. Traditional greek food is sold by vendors on the streets and there is music and dancing.

March 25th
Today we celebrated Independence Day! We began the day by watching the armed forces parade throughout Athens. It was so neat because everyone was cheering and having fun. Then we walked around to find a vendor that had we wanted. I had spanakopita and lemonade. Kelsey had Souvlaki and baklava. We quickly ran back to the front because the school children began to march through the streets. They were carrying the Greek flag. There were dancers wearing bright blue and white outfits. It was so neat seeing how different countries celebrate their independence day!
