How exciting! You've got a brand new addition to your family, and he's all yours to look after.
So now that you've got a name picked out, what exactly are you going to need to make sure your new friend is happy and healthy?

Visiting the Veterinarian
Well, first things first! In order to be healthy, all kitties have to have their first vet visit! Make sure to take your little guy to get a check up as soon as possible, and make sure to bring him in a pet carrier with enough room for him to move around a bit.

Usually, small kitties will need a few shots, and some medicine so that they don't get fleas.
If you adopted your kitty from a shelter or a foster parent, this might have already been done for you!
But you still need to find a veterinarian for your kitty to visit at least once every year for a check-up.

Food & Water
Next, buy your kitty some food that is especially for kitties aound his age, and make sure to give him plenty of food and water every single day! This will help him grow and stay healthy!

Don't forget to make sure he has a place to go to the bathroom!
It is your responsibility to clean his litter box frequently!
Litter Box Training

If you get a litter box big enough for your kitty to fit in comfortably, and add a few inches of litter on the bottom, usually he will know how to use it right away!
If he struggles, set him in the litter box and gently take his paws and have him dig in the litter a bit.

Playtime!
Another essential for your furry friend is lots and lots of toys! Kittens need plenty of entertainment as well as exercises, so make sure to get your kitty a variety of toys to keep them busy throughout the day.

The Great Outdoors
If you let your little guy outside, either get him microchipped at the vet, or give hime a collar with an I.D. tag!
This way if he every wanders from home, he will be easy to find!

Other Furry Friends
If you have any other pets at home, make sure to introduce them to your new kitten slowly! Make sure to have your parents there when these friends meet. It might take them some time to get used to each other!

And finally, make sure to give your new pal lots of attention and lots of love! Socialize your kitty with family and friends as much as you can, and he is sure to stay happy and healthy always!
