The dragon; a giant, green
dragon with immense wings that
can cover a forest flew overhead.
The wings were not the scary
part because the dragon was
double the size of his wings and
his scaly body was covered with
spikes, except for the soft belly.

When the town shot cannon balls and
flaming arrows at the dragon, he landed
and gave a roar of pain, flames spitting out
of his mouth, which started small fires as
the sparks hit the dry brown grass outside
the town. When the dragon dragged himself
up to fly away, the town cheered in victory.
Although the dragon has his own plan
brewing, he flew high around the town like
a vulture out of sight until nightfall. Then he
burned all the buildings, and, between
breaths, flew high above the attacks of the
town.

As the plan unfolded, he felt
indestructible. The citizens ran
uncontrollably out the town.
“Never doubt a dragon,” the
dragon thought as he flew away
from the still burning town. Little
did he know, that would be his
last rampage.

In a far off town, a baby was born. This
baby was called Nicolas. He had a simple
life without anything unusual for 17
years. All through his life, he heard
stories of a menacing dragon named
Demoslan. The dragon, because of the
complex name and terror he caused, was
dubbed by the citizens of the town, “The
Demon of Sky and Land.” Nicolas thought
those stories were wives tales meant to
scare kids that didn’t behave. He was
wrong.

His ordinary life all changed when he went
to a wandering fortune teller.
“The fierce dragon that plagued our
kingdom is soon to be dead,” Janice said.
“He will die here at Yerwos by a boy the age
of 17.”
“What does that have to do with me?”
Nicolas asked.
“The 17 year old boy is you!” Janice
replied.
“Why should I believe I will destroy a
dragon that doesn’t even exist?!” he
shouted as he left in disbelief.

The dragon started for his next
victim. The target was Yerwos.
As he approached Yerwos, a
deafening roar escaped his huge
mouth. Someone would have
said it was a warning call if they
were closer and could hear it.
Little did he know that his
downfall was in Yerwos.

Nicolas went to the market that night. As he
walked in, he say a flyer.
Demoslan has been spotted not more than
1,000 miles away! it read.
Nicolas, totally horrified at the news, finally
believed Janice. He then spent the next week
preparing to face the dragon as he came near. He
spent his days with a wise man practicing with a
sword and shield. Also, he needed to learn to use
ranged weapons. As the dragon drew near, Nicolas
became skilled with a sword, bow, and, probably
the most vital, a shield.
