Once upon a time, there was a girl, Maria, she lived with her little brother and they were orphans.

One day they decide to go to the city to look for a job, but once there, everybody tells them that they don’t need anyone. After a while they see a beautiful building: it is the Royal House, the house of the King. 

The Royal House has got many doors and they knock on one.

A Maid opens the door and asks them “What do you want?” and Maria replies: "We are looking for a master because we don’t know how to survive, we’ll work even for a loaf of bread". The Maid answers: “This is the Royal House, you can’t come in and our staff is already complete”.

The Queen, who has heard the voices, after the waitress returns, asks her: "What did the kids want?" and she replies: "They wanted a job". 

Then the Queen asks her: "Why didn’t you let them in?" and the Woman answers: "Because I know that we don’t need more staff". The Queen orders her to call them back because she wants to know these children.

The maid calls them: "Come here! The Queen wants to know you! ".

The children come in and the Queen asks them: "What are you looking for?". They reply: "We don’t know how to survive, we are orphans and we don’t have work and food. We are looking for a job, we don’t want money, a loaf of bread will be enough".

The Princess sees these poorly dressed, shabby little children and says to the Maid:"I don’t want them near to me, they are dirty, why did you let them in?" and she replies:”It was the Queen's wish to let them in”. 

The Queen feels pity for them and asks the royal Cook to prepare a plate of pasta.

Everybody ask the Queen what she intend to do with these orphans and she replies: "We will found some job, we can’t send them away”.

Then she thinks that they have a lot of chicken, so the girl will feed them and pick up the eggs while the boy will work with the ostler and take care of the Prince’s horse.

Later she goes to Maria and says: "Tomorrow morning, you have to feed the chicken, I'll give you this basket where you have to put the eggs!".

The morning after Maria goes to feed the chicken, but they were too many!

They jumped and pooped on her feet and clothes, making her completely

And this happened every single day.

dirty, from her head to her toes!
