In Food Mart, all of the fruits and vegetables 

were good and mighty. They stayed in their 

columns at night and by day they stuck by 

each other. There were no problems until one 

day the fruits and vegetables decided to run 

away! They wanted to run away because no 

one was buying them! They all looked rotten 

and smushed. They felt very sad.

Corey Carrot was the only vegetable that wanted 

to stay. 

Corey said, "Don't leave, we have a purpose 

here. When they buy me, I give vitamins to them 

and that helps their eyesight." 

Tommy Tomato asked, "What does that have to 

do with us then? I don't feel important." 

Corey told Tommy, "Well Tomato, you help the 

heart."

Tommy smiled, "Thanks Corey, you made me feel 

better, I think I'll stay here in Food Mart."

"Hey Bonny Banana, have you ever realized 

that athletic people buy you?" said Tommy 

Tomato.

Bonny Banana said, "Yeah?"

Tommy said, "Yeah! You give them energy to 

play the sports that they love."

Bonny Banana thanked Tommy and told them 

that she would stay too.

Bonny Banana was best friends with Waldo the 

Watermelon. Bonny told Waldo that he is 

special because he gives a natural glow to 

people, to help their skin. Not to mention, he 

was the tastiest of them all. Waldo was very 

relieved after Bonny told him that.

Waldo was so happy that he decided to jump 

up and high five Shirley Strawberry. 

Shirley Strawberry high fived him back. Waldo 

screamed, "Hey Shirley Strawberry, everyone 

likes to buy you because you heal wounds. 

You're like a doctor!"

Shirley Strawberry never thought of herself 

like that and once she heard it, she was very 

happy. "You know what, I think I'll stay with 

this nice group of friends."
