HOW / WHY IT OCCURS-

How it occurs- When plates rub against each other underground they can sometimes stick a little bit and can catch on each other when this happens the rocks are still trying to move but all they are doing is just pushing against each other, eventually the rocks will break and that is when the earthquake occurs.

MiNING because taking away materials form the earth can cause it to become unstable which then can cause collapses which can lead to earthquakes

DAM BUILDING because when large amounts of water are collected anywhere, especially over fault

WAYS TO AVOID IT-

Cut down on the amount of mining we do

When mining don't take too much materials away

We can decrease the amount of dams we build and when we do build them just try and cut down the amount of water in them

People don't evacuate for earthquakes because you don't know when an earthquake is coming so there is no time to evacuate for it

There is not a whole lot people can do to prepare for a earthquake because they don't really know when one will hit but...

People should always know what you do when an earthquake does hit (drop, cover, hold on)

You can also create a emergency supply kit for your house which holds everything you would need for an emergency and make sure everyone in your house knows where it is located in case you need to grab it fast and leave

People in the area are not usually evacuated before an earthquake because they are not warned in time, the earthquake kind of just happens but if the damage is bad enough they sometimes have to evacuate after

Again its hard to prepare for an earthquake because you never know when one will hit but the US always has workers trained and ready to help people after an earthquake hits. The US environmental protection agency (EPA) has workers ready to help after a natural disaster, like an earthquake, occurs.

Evacuation:

People can not really evacuate before a earthquake because they usually hit with little warning before but if the damage is really bad they will sometimes be forced to evacuate after to another part of the state the earthquake hit or even to a totally different state.
