My name is Arianna. My cousins and I are going on a special trip to Chuck's Gallery!

Chuck is our Granddad, and he paints beautiful pictures that he displays in his gallery.

We are very excited to see our Granddad's paintings!

When we arrive, Granddad explains that a gallery is a special place where artists can show their work.

He also tells us that he uses a kind of paint called watercolor.

We are excited to learn that Granddad uses the same kind of paint we do!

Granddad says that paintings can tell a story.

They can show what the artist is looking at, and also how the artist feels about what he's looking at.

Colors, movement, even sounds and feelings can be captured in a beautiful painting!

Some of Granddad's paintings show houses where people we know live or used to live.

We see my house, Braden's and Will's first house, Gram's and Granddad's Overton Court house—and even the house where Granddad's mother lived when she was a little girl!

We walk around a corner and into a room lined with paintings of some of the special places where Granddad and Gram have spent time together.

First we see pictures of Naperville, Illinois; Gulf Shores, Alabama; Grenada; and even Greece!

Next are lots of pictures of New Mexico. Gram and Granddad lived in New Mexico when they were young parents. Granddad began his career as a scientist there!

These paintings have lots of

pink, blue and green shades.

I think they're very beautiful!

Door County, Wisconsin is another place that Granddad loves to paint.

Some of these paintings are of places we cousins have been on summer vacation together.

We especially love the painting of Wilson's! That place has GREAT ice cream cones!

On a wall near the Door County paintings, Granddad shows us two paintings of churches.

Granddad painted these pictures for a special project, and they show some of the buildings our church has used. Copies of these paintings hang in our church now.

Some of the work that painters do is very important!
